Lihtaine koosneb sama elemendi aatomitest (n\u00e4iteks N<sub>2<\/sub>, O<sub>3<\/sub>, S<sub>8<\/sub>). Puhas aine koosneb ainult \u00fche aine osakestest (kas aatomitest, molekulidest v\u00f5i ioonidest) ja tal on kindel koostis ning\u00a0kindlad omadused. Segud on n\u00e4iteks \u00f5hk, looduslik vesi, pronks, puit.<\/p>\n<p>Molekulaarne aine koosneb molekulidest. Molekulaarsetes ainetes esineb molekuli moodustavate aatomite vahel kovalentne side ja molekulide endi vahel molekulidevahelised j\u00f5ud. Mittemolekulaarsete ainete hulka kuuluvad metallid (nt\u00a0Fe, Al) ning soolad (nt\u00a0CaCO<sub>3<\/sub>, NaCl).
