This application allows you to generate an xml file suitable for importing quiz questions into Moodle (<b>Multiple choice (with up to 10 choices), True\/False, Short answer, Essay, Numerical, Matching, Cloze and Description<\/b>). The questions, answers and feedback need to be prepared in a certain format, by means of any text processing software. When you copy a text into the xml generator, you will lose all bold text and other text formatting. Images, audio and video clips cannot be imported \u2013 these must be added later in Moodle. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #565656;\">After you convert the questions (button <i>Convert<\/i>), an xml file is created. Save it in your computer (button <i>Download file<\/i>). To import questions into Moodle, click <i>Question bank <\/i>in the e-course settings block and select <i>Import<\/i>. If you create the quiz questions using the default quiz category (see below, default for Test10), you cannot later access this category through another quiz or use the questions for another quiz. <\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #565656;\">This is why it is recommended that you create separate categories and, if necessary, also subcategories in the question bank for each quiz (<i>Administration \u2013 Question bank \u2013 Categories<\/i>). Subcategories are necessary if you later wish to add random questions to the test: for example, 3 random questions from subcategory A, 2 random questions from subcategory B, etc. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #565656;\">Questions can be created: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\">directly into the question bank (<i>Administration \u2013 Question bank \u2013 Questions \u2013 Add \u2013 + a new question<\/i>) <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\">or open the quiz in the editing mode, click on the quiz name on the front page and then <i>Administration \u2013 Edit quiz \u2013 Add \u2013 + a new question.<\/i> <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"border-bottom: dotted#eeeeee2.25pt; border-top: dotted#eeeeee2.25pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; padding: 4.0pt0cm5.0pt0cm;\">\n<h5 style=\"border: none; margin: 7.5pt 0cm; padding: 0cm;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18.0pt;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #a02b2b;\">NB! To add or create questions, click <i>Edit quiz.<\/i> <\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #565656;\">Information about the quiz is displayed at the top of the page. There you can specify the marks for each question and the <b>maximum grade <\/b>for the entire quiz. If the sum of the marks for questions is 4 and you have set 10 as the maximum grade, the result of each learner is converted to a 10-point scale and the converted score is recorded in the gradebook. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt;\">If you do not wish to include the practice quiz scores in the grade book, set the maximum points for the test to 0. In this case, a quiz grade\u00a0column is not created in the grade book, but the learner will see their quiz results under the quiz section. In quiz settings, the instructor can determine what the learner sees (attempts, correct answers, points, feedback, etc.).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color: #565656;\">In the bottom right part of the page, there is the link <b><i>Add<\/i><\/b>. All questions, except for Essay questions, are checked and assessed by the computer. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Multiple choice<\/b> \u2013 a question type in which a choice of answers is given and the learner chooses one or several correct answers from them. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>True\/False<\/b> \u2013 a question type in which two alternatives are given: True and False. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Short answer \u2013 <\/b>a question to which the learner answers by entering a word (or a few words) and the computer checks the compliance of the answer with the correct answer given by the teacher. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Numerical \u2013<\/b> the answer to this question type is a number (with the unit, if necessary). <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Calculated<\/b> \u2013 a textual question type, the answer to which is calculated according to a given formula; different source data and the corresponding correct answer is generated for learners. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Essay <\/b>\u2013 a question that expects a long text answer, which the teacher needs to check and assess. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Matching <\/b>\u2013 a question in which the learner must pair suitable variants. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Embedded answers <i>\u2013<\/i><\/b> a text with different types of gaps in it (for example, with multiple-choice dropdown menus, short answers, etc.). <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Calculated simple \u2013<\/b> a calculation problem, similar to calculated but easier to create. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Calculated multi-choice <\/b>\u2013 a question similar to multiple choice questions. The answers are calculated according to given formulas based on source data. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Chemistry (molecules and equations) <\/b>\u2013 learners can answer by drawing chemical molecules. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Drag and drop onto image <\/b>\u2013 the question presents an image to which the learner has to drag the correct text or image and drop it in the correct spot. For each drop zone, you may prepare several draggable items, one of which is correct (set as correct in the settings). <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Essay (auto-grade)<\/strong> \u2013 allows an essay of several sentences or paragraphs to be submitted as a question response. The essay is graded automatically. The grade may be overridden later.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Drag and drop into text<\/b> \u2013 a gap-filling question where correct answers must be selected from given words and dragged and dropped into correct spaces in the text. All gaps are weighted identically. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Music Theory \u2013<\/b> provides different types of music theory questions. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Ordering<\/b> \u2013 requires a number of mixed elements\/answers to be arranged in the correct order. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Regular expression short answer<\/b> \u2013 enables to identify in the answer the existence or lack of certain words described in regular expression, and automatically assess the answer. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>STACK<\/b> \u2013 enables to answer with mathematical expressions (functions, equations, matrixes, etc.) in the text form using the keyboard. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Select missing words <\/b>\u2013 a question with drop-down menus in the text. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Description<\/b> \u2013 can be used for adding text (instructions, titles, etc.) between questions.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Moodle Quiz converters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I. XML Generator for Importing Quiz Questions into a Moodle Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To import questions from a text file, use the web-based application available at:<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ut.ee\/moodletestixml\">http:\/\/www.ut.ee\/moodletestixml<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This application allows you to generate a Moodle-compatible XML file for importing quiz questions into Moodle. The supported question types include multiple choice, true\/false, short answer, essay, numerical answer, gap-fill, description (embedded text), matching, limited-choice multiple choice, and all-or-nothing multiple choice questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Questions, answers, and feedback must be created according to a specific format. Moodle Quiz Question XML Converter from Google Drive \/ DOCX Format<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This converter is maintained by the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Tartu and is primarily intended for creating quiz questions in the Google Drive environment. First, download the Word-format template to your computer and then add questions according to the predefined settings in the template.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the system supports the following question types: multiple-choice (single or multiple answers), true\/false, short answer, numerical, matching, and essay questions. Multi-paragraph question descriptions are also supported, and images can be added to questions. Example questions can be copied from the template and modified as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After uploading and converting the DOCX file (using the <strong>Moodle XML<\/strong> button), an XML file is generated and can be saved to your computer. To import the questions into Moodle, go to your Moodle course, click <strong>Question bank<\/strong> in the settings block, and then select <strong>Import<\/strong>.
