{"id":3420,"date":"2024-04-04T02:50:49","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T23:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/juhendid\/?page_id=3420"},"modified":"2024-05-14T16:54:27","modified_gmt":"2024-05-14T13:54:27","slug":"creating-glossary","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/juhendid\/creating-glossary\/?lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Creating glossary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The glossary is created in the Sisu@UT platform using the <strong>Name Directory<\/strong> plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the <strong><em>Name Directory<\/em><\/strong> application is not active in the website, it can be activated through the <em><strong>Plugins<\/strong><\/em> link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To link dictionary entries on the pages of the website, the <em><strong>Name Directory Tooltips<\/strong><\/em> plugin must also be activated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To add a glossary:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select \u201c<strong>Name Directory<\/strong>\u201d from the left menu and then choose \u201c<strong>Add directory<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the glossary title and description.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make appearance choices for the glossary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to display an alphabetical index at the beginning of the glossary, select \u201c<em>Show all letters on index<\/em>.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the \u201cSubmissions\u201d section, you can allow viewers to add terms to the glossary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the \u201cNaming\u201d section, enter the wording for term naming (including in Estonian).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To add glossary entries:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click \u201c<strong>Name Directory<\/strong>\u201d in the left menu, then under the dictionary title, click \u201c<em>Manage names<\/em>.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write the word and its description\/meaning in the \u201c<em><strong>Add a new name<\/strong><\/em>\u201d section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click \u201c<strong><em>Add name.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To see the added word in the list, refresh the page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>To modify glossary settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click \u201c<em>Name Directory<\/em>\u201d in the left menu, then choose \u201c<em>Settings<\/em>\u201d next to the glossary.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple glossaries can be added to the website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Embedding the glossary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To embed a glossary, use the <strong>Shortcode<\/strong> block and paste the glossary embed code (e.g., [namedirectory dir=\u201c1\u201d]).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> For linking glossary entries from pages, click \u201c<strong>Name Directory Tooltips<\/strong>\u201d and configure the relevant settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linking dictionary entries from pages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to link glossary entries on the site pages, click on the <strong>Name Directory Tooltips<\/strong> menu on the left and the corresponding glossary link settings link (<strong><em>Tooltips settings<\/em><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specify:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>do you want to automatically link terms (<em>Automatic linking<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>whether the title of the term is also included (<em>Include term name<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is linking case sensitive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is linking only on the first appearance on the page (<em>First match only<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is linking only if there is a full match (<em>Full match only<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <em>Exclude pages and posts section<\/em>, you can exclude pages and posts where you don\u2019t want to link to glossary entries.
