{"id":191,"date":"2024-04-04T02:50:39","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T23:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/juhendid\/glossary\/"},"modified":"2024-04-10T19:43:16","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T16:43:16","slug":"glossary","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/juhendid\/glossary\/?lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Glossary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 7.5pt\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">Glossary is an alphabetically systemised list of terms\/dates\/foreign words etc. and their definitions, which can be created collaboratively by the teacher and students, which can be commented and assessed.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top:15.0pt;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#2a5188\"><span style=\"font-weight:normal\">To add a glossary:<\/span><\/span><\/span><br>\n<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">in the drop-down menu that opens under <em>Add an activity or resource<\/em><i>, <\/i>select <em>Glossary<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">add a name and description to the glossary<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">review and if necessary, edit the settings for entries and appearance<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">if grading is enabled in the glossary, specify the aggregation type and scale<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">to add entries, open the glossary and click <em>Add a new entry<\/em><\/span><i>.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">If each learner should make, for example, five entries in the glossary, it is convenient to assess if the scale type is numerical and the maximum score 5 and the aggregation is based on the sum or the number of ratings.\u00a0 In this case you can score one point for each entry and the number of graded entries or the sum of ratings will be entered in the gradebook.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">To assess a learner<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">, open the entry made by the learner and select an appropriate grade from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the entry.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">In the glossary settings you can determine (<\/span><\/span><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">Glossary auto-linking<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">), whether new terms in the glossary are auto-linked in all html texts in the course (e.g. books, pages, quizzes, etc.). If you do not prefer glossary auto-linking, open the quiz, select <em>Filters<\/em> the administration block and turn off the <em>Glossary auto-linking<\/em> feature. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"border-bottom:dotted#eeeeee2.25pt;border-top:dotted#eeeeee2.25pt;border-left:none;border-right:none;padding:4.0pt0cm5.0pt0cm\">\n<h5 style=\"margin-top:7.5pt;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm;line-height:18.0pt;border:none;padding:0cm\">\n\t\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"color:#a02b2b\">Entries can also be imported from a file to the e-course glossary.<\/span><br>\n\t<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">This requires converting entries from a text or Excel file into the xml format for Moodle. There are several ways to do this:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">1. If you have a Facebook account you can use the application at <\/span><\/span><a data-url=\"http:\/\/vletools.com\/converter\/glossary\" href=\"http:\/\/vletools.com\/converter\/glossary\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#428bca\">http:\/\/vletools.com\/converter\/glossary<\/span><\/span><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">The entries in the text file should be in the following order:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">Concept1<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">Definition1<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">Concept2<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">Definition2<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">2. An export file in csv format includes a tale, in which concepts, definitions and categories are in different columns.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top:15.0pt;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#2a5188\"><span style=\"font-weight:normal\">To export entries:<\/span><\/span><\/span><br>\n<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">open the <em>glossary <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">click in the settings block on the left <em>Export entries<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span>select <em>Export entries to file<\/em><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\">, which saves the glossary to xml format<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#565656\"><span style=\"line-height:normal\"><span><i>In <\/i><em>File download<\/em><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\"> menu. use <em>Export to portfolio<\/em> to save the glossary for personal use in csv format.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"border-bottom:dotted#eeeeee2.25pt;border-top:dotted#eeeeee2.25pt;border-left:none;border-right:none;padding:4.0pt0cm5.0pt0cm\">\n<h5 style=\"margin-top:7.5pt;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm;line-height:18.0pt;border:none;padding:0cm\">\n\t\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\",serif\"><span style=\"color:#a02b2b\">When you empty the course the teacher has to decide whether to preserve the learner-added entries or not.<\/span><\/span><br>\n\t<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color:#565656\">If you want keep the entries added by learners after the course is emptied, you should untick the checkbox at <em>Delete entries by users not enrolled<\/em>.
