type of video you want to create and whether you need any equipment \u2013 <b>the <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/etu.ut.ee\/custom\/puu_2017\/puu.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-url=\"http:\/\/etu.ut.ee\/custom\/puu_2017\/puu.html\">Video tree<\/a><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> (in Estonian) may help you with that<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Prepare material for <b>20-30 minutes of video maximum<\/b> (a person can focus on a video for about 20 minutes). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">When creating instructional videos (not video lectures!), remember that one hour of video requires at least two hours of work.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<h5 align=\"center\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Do not simply read the text on the slides out loud!<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Technical quality<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A lighter background<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> leaves a more cheerful impression.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Make sure to minimise <b>background noise<\/b> in the video shoot location (phone, coffee machine, ventilation, street noise, etc.).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Try not to touch the microphone \u2013 this creates additional noise.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Avoid using the keyboard \u2013 this creates additional noise.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Make sure there is <b>enough light<\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">First, make a short <b>test recording<\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Delete the test recording from the Panopto server immediately after reviewing it!<\/h5>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Presentation slides<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Use the same design template throughout the course.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The opening slide includes the topic of the lecture, contacts of lecturer <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">and the year of creation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The slides are <b>numbered<\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">At the beginning of the video lecture, give a short overview of the topic to be covered.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Use a single-coloured slide template that is as light and neutral as possible (<b>dark text on a white <\/b>is the best).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Use as few colours as possible (one colour for body text, another for titles).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Emphasise important parts by bold (instead of another colour or underlining).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Make sure <b>the font size is sufficient <\/b>(22-28, max 36 for titles) and same on all slides.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Use lists to break down the text.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Insert the titles of slides correctly in the design template as titles (later on, these titles will form the menu of the video lecture).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Have a closing slide<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> (thanks, wishes for the future or a blank slide) so that the presentation would not end before the spoken text.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Outfit and looks<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Prefer darker (blue, brown, grey, dark beige, violet) single-coloured clothing, but not black (this absorbs too much light).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Avoid white and yellow clothing, as these reflect too much light.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Avoid mixing patterned clothing.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">It is good if the clothes have a place to attach the microphone to (when using a lapel microphone).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Use the same clothing to record all video lectures of the course.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Using a light powder helps to reduce shine.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Avoid using massive, shiny, long and dangling jewellery.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Wear clothing that prevents and conceals sweat marks.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Prefer comfortable footwear.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Speech and gaze<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Make sure your video lecture has clear advantages over reading written text out loud.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Include real-life examples and one joke.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Speak clearly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Prefer a faster pace and speak with enthusiasm.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Use shorter sentences.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Change your intonation and volume to emphasise important parts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Remain tactful.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Smile.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Look into the camera.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">If you have to look away from the camera (e.g. for notes), turn your head, not just the eyes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background: white;\"><span style=\"color: #565656;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Do not look away from the camera too often: it may leave an impression of lacking
