Synopsis

The countries of the Middle East and North Africa, and the Arab world have undergone major changes over the last ten years, with dictators falling and rising; the people have expressed their desire for change through revolutionary movements. Societies have become polarized, and conservatives and Islamists have become more vocal. It is clear that democracy is not the answer to Islamism and terrorism, and the importance of religion in society is growing.
