\n\tOver the recent years, ICT technologies have transformed the notion of learning\u00a0processes, bringing them to multiple spaces and realities. The following\u00a0developments impact the way a new generation of students uses study resources to\u00a0gain new knowledge, skills and competences. According to the survey conducted by\u00a0Task Force on the Future of MIT Education (2013), over 65% of bachelor and over\u00a070% of master students (from 941 respondents) preferred some online components\u00a0in their learning environment.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe global trends in higher education are also reflected in the partner universities:\u00a0over 350 distance courses has been offered during the last academic year (Uppsala,\u00a0Tartu); around 10 million euros has been invested in a strategic project to convert\u00a0more courses into blended learning format (Aarhus); interdisciplinary degree\u00a0programs with highly dynamic and flexible environments have been designed (RGSL)\u00a0and a network of VR labs across campuses has been built to test new forms of\u00a0teaching (NTNU).\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe following changes present both the teaching staff and educational developers\u00a0at partner universities and across Europe with new challenges related to a) smooth\u00a0integration of new innovations in methods and technologies into curricula and\u00a0balanced diffusion of know-how among the university staff b) diversification of\u00a0multiple levels of learning spaces at a consistent and competitive degrees; c)\u00a0efficiency in combining various teaching methods to address students\u2019 skills with the\u00a0changing landscape of labour market.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn this regard, the proposed interdisciplinary consortium brings together five\u00a0innovation-oriented universities from the Nordic-Baltic region with\u00a0expertise in\u00a0blended and online teaching environments under one umbrella.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBy bringing together poles of excellence in different domains of teaching, the\u00a0network\u2019s objectives are to facilitate the transfer of know-how and\u00a0harmonize teaching\u00a0practices among the partners. It aims to provide unified medium for developing\u00a0learning spaces at multiple levels, which is currently lacking in the Nordic-Baltic\u00a0context, as well as equip the teaching staff with practical knowledge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
