Üliõpilaste XXII Suvemängud

Kutsume Sind osa võtma sportlikust nädalavahetusest Käärikul Üliõpilaste Suvemängudel, mis on Eesti suurim ja ühtlasi ka ainuke üliõpilastele suunatud spordi- ja meelelahutusüritus. Suvemängude toimumisaeg on seekord 1.-3. juuli 2022 ja asukohaks legendaarne Kääriku Spordikeskus. Kolme päeva jooksul toimub 40 erinevat spordi- ja meelelahutusala. International workshop “Active young people taking action against hate speech – possible or not?”

Estonian Human Rights Centre in cooperation with partners across Europe calls for youth participants aged 18-30 to an international workshop “Active young people taking action against hate speech – possible or not?” A workshop will be held on June 17 in Tartu, Estonia. Tudengid koostasid prantsuse luuletajale pühendatud fotonäituse

Tartu Ülikooli maailma keelte ja kultuuride kolledžis kolledži (J. Liivi 4) 1. korrusel avati prantsuse luuletaja Charles Pierre Baudelaire’i 201. sünniaastapäevale pühendatud fotonäitus „Vaimustunud ootusest“.

Tartu linnavalitsus ja Balti Uuringute Instituut viivad läbi uuringut Tartus elavate ja/või õppivate noorte seas, et küsida nende arvamust ja selgitada välja noorte teadlikkus nii esinduskogude kui ka noortevolikogu tegemiste kohta Tartu linnas. Uuringu täitmine võtab aega kuni 15 minutit ning see on avatud vastamiseks 13. juunini. Kõikide vastanute vahel loositakse välja mitmeid põnevaid auhindu.

Uuringu tulemusena valmib kokkuvõte, mida kasutatakse Tartu noorte paremaks kaasamiseks ning Tartu Linna Noortevolikogu töö arendamiseks ja planeerimiseks. Kõik Sinu vastused jäävad anonüümseks ja konfidentsiaalseks ning neid ei jagata teiste osapooltega.

Tasuta eesti-inglise keeleõppelaager

Integratsiooni Sihtasutuse Tallinna eesti keele maja pakub eesti ja inglise keele õppijatele võimaluse tasuta osa võtta eesti-inglise tandemlaagrist, mis toimub augustis Palamusel 16.-19. august 2022. Laagrisse ootame vähemalt 18-aastaseid eesti keelt emakeelena rääkivaid ja inglise keelt õppivaid inimesi ja inglise keele vahenduskeelega eesti keelt õppivaid inimesi. Kohapeal pakutakse ööbimist, kolm korda päevas toitlustust ning mitmekesist programmi. Organiseeritud on ka transport Tallinnast. Osalemine on tasuta. Eelregistreerimine lõppeb 13. juunil.

Tartu Ülikooli kolmekümnes vabade kunstide professor on Reet Aus, professuuri üleandmine toimub 2. juunil kell 15.15 Jakobi 2 ringauditooriumis

Järgmisel õppeaastal asub Tartu Ülikooli vabade kunstide professoriks moe-, filmi- ja teatrikunstnik Reet Aus, kes võtab ametijärje üle Hasso Krullilt. Reet Aus on järjekorras kolmekümnes vabade kunstide professor. Ametikoha üleandmist tähistav traditsiooniline vestlusring toimub 2. juunil kell 15.15 Jakobi 2 õppehoone ringauditooriumis, kus Reet Aus ja Hasso Krull arutlevad rõivastuse afektiivse mõju üle ning mõtisklevad, kuidas moest saab sündmus.

Osale EUROSTUDENTi üliõpilaste eluolu uuringus

EUROSTUDENT uuringut viiakse läbi juba kaheksandat korda, sel korral 30 riigis. Eestis kogutakse koostöös Haridus- ja Teadusministeeriumiga infot üliõpilaste heaolu ja eluolu kohta. Uuring on aidanud kindlaks teha kõrghariduse murekohad, hinnata kõrghariduspoliitikate tulemuslikkust ning teha otsuseid, mis võtavad arvesse Eesti üliõpilaste olukorda ja vajadusi. Uuringukutse koos personaalse küsitluslingiga on saadetud pea kõikidele (enam kui 40 000) Eesti tudengitele. Seega, hea üliõpilane, küsitluslingi leiad oma e-postkastist! Venemaa-Ukraina sõja mõjudest Euroopa Liidu kaitse- ja julgeolekupoliitikale

Tartu Ülikooli vilistlane Marina Kaljurand räägib 9. mail 2022 kell 14.15–15.45 Venemaa-Ukraina sõja mõjudest Euroopa Liidu kaitse- ja julgeolekupoliitikale. Osale EUROSTUDENTi üliõpilaste eluolu uuringus

Biotoopia konverents 2022

BIOTOOPIA22′ kutsub kõiki mõõtma ilu olulisust evolutsiooni arengus ja lepitust leidma ökoloogias, tutvu esinejate ja kunstiprogrammiga!

Olete 17.-19. augustil 2022 oodatud kunsti, teaduse ja biosfääri ühisala vaatlevale konverentsile ja kunstisündmusele Biotoopia: ökoesteetika ja lepitusökoloogia, mis toimub juba teist korda Viinistu Kunstisadamas. Kahel esimesel päeval saab konverentsil osaleda ka veebiplatvormil.

Taskuhäälingusaade karjäärivõimalustest psühholoogia taustaga tudengitele

Efektiivse Altruismi taskuhääling #20 on Sille-Liis Männikuga efektiivse annetamise psühholoogiast. Sille-Liis õppis Tartu Ülikoolis psühholoogiat ja hiljem Utrechti Ülikooli magistris sotsiaalpsühholoogiat. Hetkel töötab ta Tartu Ülikooli psühholoogia instituudis, kus tegeleb erinevate rakenduspsühholoogia projektidega, mis on seotud tööalase vaimse heaoluga, aga ka käitumise mõjutamise ja müksamisega. Ülikool ootab kõiki huvilisi Ukraina keele ja kultuuri teemalisele veebiseminarile

Kolmapäeval, 27. aprillil kell 16.00–17.30 toimub Ukraina-teemaline veebiseminar “Ukraina keelest ja kultuurist”. Seminar on inglise keeles, aga küsimusi saab esitada nii eesti kui ka inglise keeles. Kuulama ja kaasa mõtlema on oodatud kõik huvilised. Seminarile tuleb registreeruda hiljemalt 26. aprillil.

Aruteluseminar kõrghariduse rahastamise mudelitest ja nende muutmise võimalikust mõjust

Neljapäeval, 28. aprillil kell 14.00–17.00 toimub Tartu Ülikooli raamatukogu konverentsisaalis aruteluseminar, kus tutvustatakse ülikoolis tehtud analüüsi „Kõrghariduse rahastusmudelid ja nende muutmise võimalikud mõjud“ tulemusi. Samuti räägib majandusteadlane professor Nicholas Barr sissetulekust sõltuva tagasimaksega õppelaenu süsteemist. Registreeru seminarile.

Üle-eestiline kübersuperstaaride ürituste sari alustab taas

Cyber Battle of Estonia küberkursused koosnevad kolmest osast ja toimuvad Eesti erinevates linnades. Kursused on suunatud noortele, kellel huvi kübermaailma vastu, aga eelnev kokkupuude või kogemus valdkonnaga varasemalt puudub. Koostöös Tartu Ülikooli teadusukooliga väljastatakse küberkursuse ja eelvoorus osalemise eest tunnistus (sh ainepunktid). Rohkem infot Facebookist ja kodulehelt.

Osale loogikavalemite teisendaja veebirakenduse loomises ja katseta rakendust

Loogikavalemite teisendaja on bakalaureusetöö raames valmiv veebirakendus, mille eesmärk on lause- ja predikaatarvutuse valemite teisendamine võimalikult lähedaselt käsitsi teisendamisele. Selle raames palutakse abi rakenduse katsetamise ja küsimustikule vastamisega. Vastajate andmed on anonüümseid ning vastuseid kasutatakse ainult rakenduse analüüsimiseks ja parandamiseks. Küsimustiku täitmine võtab 10–20 minutit ja on leitav SIIT.

Ilmunud on aprillikuu Universitas Tartuensis

Ülikooli ajakirja UT värskest numbrist saab lugeda usutlust aasta õppejõududega ning seda, kes on uus professor Reet Kurg (ajakirja veebilehel tutvustatakse ka ülikooli esimest kassprofessorit Alexander Sassiust). Üliõpilasesindajad kirjutavad sellest, mida on meie tudengid ja töötajad teinud ukrainlaste aitamiseks ning ajakirjandussotsioloogia teadur Signe Ivask jagab oma reisikirjas kasulikke näpunäiteid neile, kes plaanivad Tšehhi õppima minna. Probleemsematest teemadest käsitletakse vähest teadlikkust võrdse kohtlemisega seotust ning seda, kas hiljutise uuringu tulemusi, mille järgi tudengilinna kõik elanikud iga päev raskes joobes olema peaksid, ka uskuda tasub. Samuti tasub lugeda infosõda käsitlevaid arvamusartikleid ning uurida, millised on uued vaimse tervise esmaabi saamise võimalused ülikooliperele. Jätkub kandideerimine Enlighti suveülikooli kursusele „Tõsimängude loomine tervishoius ja hariduses“

Uppsala Ülikool kutsub magistrante osalema suveülikooli kursusel, mis keskendub tervishoiu- ja haridusteemaliste tõsimängude loomisele. Kursuse veebiõpe kestab 1.–7. augustini ja lähiõpe Uppsala Ülikoolis 8.–19. augustini. Õppemooduli läbimine annab üliõpilasele 5 EAP.

Varjevõrkude valmistamine Jakobi 2 õppehoones

Arheoloogia osakonna töötajate kaasabil on Jakobi 2 õppehoone keldrikorrusel juba mitu nädalat panustatud algatusse AITAN KAITSTA – teeme koos varjevõrke. Varjevõrkude tegemisse on väga oodatud panustama kõik Tartu Ülikooli tudengid.
Võimalusi aidata on veel mitmeid:
* Tuua Jakobi 2 õppehoone administraatorilaua juures asuvasse kogumiskasti sobivas värvitoonis ja kergest kangast rõiva- või tekstiilijääke.
* Aidata annetatud rõivajääke sobivateks ribadeks lõigata.
* Punuda ribastatud rõivajäägid varjevõrguks.
Ribastamiseks ja võrkude punumiseks on loodud tingimused Jakobi 2 keldrikorrusel (liftiga sõites K-korrus). Ruumis on olemas juhendid, mille järgi toimetada. Panustada on võimalik E-R hoone lahtioleku ajal või nädalavahetusel talgukorras. Järgmised talgud toimuvad laupäeval, 16. aprillil kell 11–16.

Tee 90-sekundiline video, et võita 25 000 £ ning saada jalg idumaailma ukse vahele

Wise’i viiendat aastat järjest toimuv võistlus 20 Under 20 ootab osalema 16–19aastaseid ettevõtjaid, et aidata noorte firmadel lendu tõusta. 20 finalisti ning võitjad valivad välja mainekad kohtunikud, kelle seas on lisaks žürii esimehele ning Wise’i kaasasutajale Taavet Hinrikusele sel aastal ka president Kersti Kaljulaid ning Pariisi Station F’i direktor Roxanne Varza.

Valminud on projekti „Tudeng, aita tudengit!“ kokkuvõte

Aitäh kõikidele tudengitele, kes panustasid projekti. Muredest ja lahendustest on nüüdseks valminud kokkuvõtlik fail. Sinna on koondatud, välja nopitud nõuanded ja ka originaalkujul mured ja lahendused. Vaata ise järgi siit!

18.–22. aprillil toimub Tartus Keskkonnanädal 2022: Tervislik osa igapäevaelust

Bioteaduste Üliõpilaste Selts on taaskord ühendanud koos teiste organisatsioonidega jõud, et tuua teieni Keskkonnanädal. Toimuvad üritused aitavad leida tervislikke alternatiive igapäevaelus, mis viivad väiksemate keskkonnamõjudeni. Nädala üritustel saab sõpradega koos aega veeta, kasulikke teadmisi koguda, uusi hooneid ja jalutusradu Tartus leida ning ka palju muud. Lisaks ei puudu ka väike kõhutäis ja keskkonnasõbralikud kingitused sponsoritelt! Rohkem infot nädalast Facebookist.

The BUP’s annual Student Conference 2022

The conference is free of charge for students studying at bachelor and master level at The Baltic University Programme’s participating universities.
Accepted students will spend two full days on the island of Gotland, located in the middle of the Baltic Sea. During these days, students will take part in lectures, workshops and discussions with experts from academia, civil society and local food producers. Participants will also get the opportunity to visit a productive organic farm as well as take part in a guided tour of the Medieval Hanseatic city of Visby, which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
During our four days conference on the island of Gotland, the students will get a unique experience learning from regional experts and local food producers.
The BUP will cover all participant’s costs of accommodation, food and travels from Stockholm to Visby and back.

Ülikool ootab kõiki huvilisi Ukraina-teemalistele veebiseminaridele

Kolmapäeval, 30. märtsil kell 16.00–17.30 toimub Worksupis ingliskeelne veebiseminar „Ukraina linnad sõjakeerises: vandenõuteooriatest muutunud linnaruumini“. Sellega jätkatakse Ukrainaga seotud teemade arutelu, mida alustati 24. märtsil toimunud heategevusõhtul. Ukraina-teemaliste veebiseminaride sari kestab mai lõpuni ning kuulama ja kaasa mõtlema on oodatud kõik huvilised. Seminarile tuleb registreeruda.

Ukrainian students and staff members at the UT together with the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies invite fellow students and staff to a panel discussion on the Russian-Ukrainian war on Thursday, March 31, at 16.15-18.00 at the University of Tartu Delta building (registration required, please see below).
A brutal war, unleashed by the Russian Federation, has been raging in Ukraine for more than a month.
Although news about Ukraine dominate the media, those UT students and staff who have limited background knowledge in East European politics may find the events baffling and difficult to make sense of.
The discussion focuses on the following questions:
* Why did Russia invade Ukraine?
* What are Putin’s goals and are these achievable?
* What to make of the claim that “NATO and the EU provoked Russian aggression by expanding to Eastern Europe”?
* What explains Ukraine’s valiant resistance?
* How does Russian mass media depict the situation and justify Russia’s actions?
*What is the role of Belarus in all of this?
* What are the long-term implications of this war?

The CEFER Challenge for undergraduate and/or master level students

The Center for Excellence in Finance and Economic Research (CEFER) at the Bank of Lithuania is bringing forth a student challenge event, the CEFER Challenge. This years’ theme focuses on assessing the economic and financial impact of climate change.
Inspired by the Federal Reserve Challenge in the US, the CEFER Challenge is an annual thematic team competition for undergraduate and/or master level students from various academic disciplines. To participate in the challenge, students must form teams of 3–4 participants. All team members must be academically active students in the given academic year.
In the 1st round of the competition, teams are required to submit a 3–minute video. For the first 1.5 minutes, students should focus on one economic/financial channel and explain intuitively why central banks and financial regulators should care about climate change. Students should use the remaining 1.5 minutes to provide brief evidence to support the suggested channel. Data evidence is preferred; other forms of evidence are acceptable.
The Bank of Lithuania provides monetary rewards for the winning teams (EUR 3000 for the winner and EUR 1500 for the runner-up). Internship possibilities are available at the Bank of Lithuania and interested partners.
The deadline for registration is 31 March. The deadline for 1st round video submission is the 7 April.

Cyber Battle of Estonia küberkursused koosnevad kolmest osast ja toimuvad Eesti erinevates linnades. Kursused on suunatud noortele, kellel huvi kübermaailma vastu, aga eelnev kokkupuude või kogemus valdkonnaga varasemalt puudub. NULA inkubaator ootab ühiskonda muutvaid ideid!

Eesti ainus ühiskondlikele algatustele mõeldud inkubaator NULA alustab juba seitsmendat hooaega ja ootab ideid Eesti elu parandamiseks.
NULA inkubaator on ellu kutsutud, et aidata nutikalt lahendada ühiskondlikke probleeme (olgu need seotud perede toimetuleku, inimeste üksilduse, sõltuvuste, koolis hakkamasaamise, keskkonna reostuse või hoopis toiduraiskamise vm probleemiga). Sama oluline on inkubaatori roll tulevaste sotsiaalsete ettevõtjate koolitamisel, et neil oleks olemas oskused ja teadmised, kuidas taolisi olulisi teemasid mõjusalt lahendada.
Poole aasta pikkuse tasuta koolitus- ja arendusprogrammi käigus aitab NULA kasvatada algsetest ideedest toimivad lahendused. Kuni kolmel parimal algatusel on võimalik saada kuni 25 000 euro suurune stardikapital idee elluviimiseks.
Kandideerimiseks tuleb lühidalt iseloomustada probleemi, mida lahendada soovitakse, ning kirjeldada oma ideed. Kasulik on leida endale ka mõni mõttekaaslane, sest idee arendamine meeskonnaga on kiirem ja tõhusam. Oma ettevõtet või organisatsiooni ei pea kandideerimise ajaks veel loodud olema. DD otsib vabatahtlikke korraldama ägedat noorte arenguprogrammi Eestis ja Lätis!

DD ootab vabatahtlikke, kes aitaksid korraldada DD Akadeemia juhtimis- ja enesearenguprogrammi Eesti ja Läti üliõpilastele. Panustada saab programmi koolituste korraldamise ja läbiviimisega, programmi sisu väljatöötamisega ning värbamiskampaania tegevustes.
Samuti on avatud kandideerimiseks positsioonid ka teistes DD projektides ja tiimides. DD vabatahtlikud panustavad süsteemselt ja läbimõeldud rollides suuremate eesmärkide saavutamisse, mis annab kindluse, et antav panus on suure mõjuga.

Magistrante ja doktorante oodatakse antiikmaailma talvekooli

11.–12. märtsil toimub Enlight/U4 korraldamisel antiikmaailma talvekool, mille keskseks teemaks on üksikisik ja kogukond antiikmaailmas. NATO–EU Roundtable 2022

8. aprillil kell 9 algab Tallinnas Park Inn by Radisson Meriton hotellis (Toompuiestee 27/Paldiski mnt. 4, Tallinn) Eesti NATO Ühingu korraldusel kümnes NATO-Euroopa Liidu Ümarlaud. Tegemist on rahvusvahelise konverentsiga, mille eesmärk on tõsta osalejate teadlikkust rahvusvahelise julgeolekupoliitika valdkonnas.
Sel aastal on konverentsi fookuses Euroopa Liidu Strateegiline Kompass, NATO 2030 strateegiline kontseptsioon, sõda idarindel ja NATO ning Euroopa Liidu võimekus tegeleda küberkuritegude ja desinformatsiooniga.

Tartu Ülikoolis algab Enlighti võrdsuse ja kestlikkuse grandikirjutamisseminar doktorantidele

Ürituse eesmärk on anda Enlighti võrgustiku ülikoolide teadlastele võimalus valdkonnaüleseks koostööks. Osalejaid innustatakse leidma ühiselt lahendusi töötubade teemade alla kuuluvatele probleemidele, lähtudes seminari läbivast teemast – võrdsusest ja kestlikkusest. 14.–18. veebruarini kestev seminar toob zoomi vahendusel kokku 33 doktoranti üheksast ülikoolist. Arvamuskonkurss Edukas Eesti kutsub taas kaasa lööma

Edukas Eesti on Äripäeva, Eesti Gaasi, If Kindlustuse, Ellex Raidla Advokaadibüroo, Forus Grupi, Swedbanki ja Rohetiigri konkurss, kuhu oodatakse Eesti eduloo uuendamise ja arengu kiirendamise ideid arvamusloo vormis. Turunduslahing 2022

Sel aastal toimub esmakordselt üle-eestiline tudengite turundusvõistlus „Turunduslahing 2022“. Registreerunud 1–3 liikmelised võistkonnad saavad lahendamiseks valida ühe kolmest turunduskampaania ülesandest, mille on püstitanud kolm Eesti ettevõtet. Finalistid selgitab välja oma ala ekspertidest koosnev žürii ning võitjad kuulutatakse välja TÜ majandusteaduskonna majanduskonverentsil mais. Võitjatele on välja pandud auhinnad koostööpartnerite ja sponsorite poolt. Osalemiseks täida hiljemalt 15.veebruariks registreerimisvorm.

Estonian-English tandem camp in Palamuse

Everyone is welcome to take part in a language-learning camp being held on 16-19 August 2022 near Palamuse, the setting for classic Estonian author Oskar Luts’ ground-breaking novel Spring. Both those who speak Estonian as their first language and those who are fluent in English are welcome to participate if they are interested in both teaching and learning their languages by way of fun activities and get-togethers.
Accommodation, three meals a day and a wide-ranging programme of events will be provided. Transport will also be available from Tallinn. Participation is free of charge. All events of the Estonian language house are intended for adults and take place in Estonian! Registration closes on 13 June.

The BUP’s annual Student Conference 2022

The conference is free of charge for students studying at bachelor and master level at The Baltic University Programme’s participating universities.
Accepted students will spend two full days on the island of Gotland, located in the middle of the Baltic Sea. During these days, students will take part in lectures, workshops and discussions with experts from academia, civil society and local food producers. Participants will also get the opportunity to visit a productive organic farm as well as take part in a guided tour of the Medieval Hanseatic city of Visby, which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
During our four days conference on the island of Gotland, the students will get a unique experience learning from regional experts and local food producers.
The BUP will cover all participant’s costs of accommodation, food and travels from Stockholm to Visby and back.

Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies (University of Tartu) is launching its free, English-based MOOC course “Common Challenges of Competing Regionalisms” (2 ECTS), which will begin from April 25 until June 5.
What will I learn during the course?
You will learn about the dimensions of comparative regionalism in the European and Eurasian context in the light of emergence, transformation, and consolidation of integration processes in the EU and in the former Soviet and Socialist space; what regionalism is, how it can be defined conceptually and theoretically and much more! A key part of the course will imply a comparative assessment of the institutional settings of the EU and EaEU.
Who is this course for?
The course is open to everyone interested in comparative regionalism and integration processes in Europe and Eurasia, especially master degree and bachelor students in European and Russian studies, international relations and political science.
Why should I take this course?
By enrolling to the course, you will have access to video lectures from academicians and practitioners, specialising in the integration processes and comparative regionalism between the EU and EEU. There will also be guest interviews from academic representatives from the region aimed at providing specific perspectives on different case studies in competing regional integration projects. The participants will able to benefit from a wide variety of readings, course supporting and interactive materials as well as a vibrant and international online community of peers with whom they can learn together and interact throughout the course. Upon successful completion of the MOOC, participants will also receive a free digital certificate from the University of Tartu.

Invitation to a panel discussion on the Russian-Ukrainian war

Ukrainian students and staff members at the UT together with the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies invite fellow students and staff to a panel discussion on the Russian-Ukrainian war on Thursday, March 31, at 16.15-18.00 at the University of Tartu Delta building (registration required, please see below).
A brutal war, unleashed by the Russian Federation, has been raging in Ukraine for more than a month.
Although news about Ukraine dominate the media, those UT students and staff who have limited background knowledge in East European politics may find the events baffling and difficult to make sense of.
The discussion focuses on the following questions:
* Why did Russia invade Ukraine?
* What are Putin’s goals and are these achievable?
* What to make of the claim that “NATO and the EU provoked Russian aggression by expanding to Eastern Europe”?
* What explains Ukraine’s valiant resistance?
* How does Russian mass media depict the situation and justify Russia’s actions?
*What is the role of Belarus in all of this?
* What are the long-term implications of this war?

The CEFER Challenge for undergraduate and/or master level students

The Center for Excellence in Finance and Economic Research (CEFER) at the Bank of Lithuania is bringing forth a student challenge event, the CEFER Challenge. This years’ theme focuses on assessing the economic and financial impact of climate change.
Inspired by the Federal Reserve Challenge in the US, the CEFER Challenge is an annual thematic team competition for undergraduate and/or master level students from various academic disciplines. To participate in the challenge, students must form teams of 3–4 participants. All team members must be academically active students in the given academic year.
In the 1st round of the competition, teams are required to submit a 3–minute video. For the first 1.5 minutes, students should focus on one economic/financial channel and explain intuitively why central banks and financial regulators should care about climate change. Students should use the remaining 1.5 minutes to provide brief evidence to support the suggested channel. Data evidence is preferred; other forms of evidence are acceptable.
The Bank of Lithuania provides monetary rewards for the winning teams (EUR 3000 for the winner and EUR 1500 for the runner-up). Internship possibilities are available at the Bank of Lithuania and interested partners.
The deadline for registration is 31 March. The deadline for 1st round video submission is the 7 April.

The individual and the community in the ancient world

This year’s Enlight/U4 Ancient World Winter School focuses on the individual and/or the group in the ancient world. Join the UT mentoring programme!

Until 17 February, you can apply to the mentoring programme of the University of Tartu, in which each student will be paired up with an alumni mentor. In addition to the mentor-mentee meetings, inspirational joint seminars will be held by public speaking coach Harald Lepisk, investor Kristi Saare, music and development coach Sandra Vabarna and others. ENLIGHT Interdisciplinary Proposal-Writing Workshop “Equity and Sustainability”

The goal of the event is to provide a platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration for the ENLIGHT network universities’ researchers. The participants are invited to collectively look for solutions to the challenges indicated by the anchor topic “Equity and Sustainability”. During the event, five labs will be formed, each comprised of two senior researchers and up to seven PhD students. More info here.

Winter School “Artificial intelligence for non-IT students” begins

On 21 February begins University of Tartu Winter School “Artificial intelligence for non-IT students”.
The students will understand the principles of statistical data processing, machine learning techniques, methods of AI deep learning and the ability to create data analytics chains. The students will get an overview of the application of IT in everyday life.

Professor Akihiko Tanaka’s online lecture “The rise of the Indo-Pacific: opportunities for cooperation between Japan and Europe”

University of Tartu and Embassy of Japan in Estonia are pleased to invite you to an online lecture “The rise of the Indo-Pacific: opportunities for cooperation between Japan and Europe” by Professor Akihiko Tanaka on 14 February at 11:00–12:30 (EET).
Professor Akihiko Tanaka is the President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS).
Participation pre-registration is needed. Registration is open until 9 February. Upon registering, you will receive a confirmation email with the link for online participation three days before the event. In case you have questions, please contact the Japanese Embassy at culture@ti.mofa.go.jp. Short feedback questionnaire will be asked to be filled after the event.
