{"id":26,"date":"2024-04-04T04:16:49","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T01:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/fzbg\/publication-ethics\/"},"modified":"2024-04-04T04:17:08","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T01:17:08","slug":"publication-ethics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/fzbg\/publication-ethics\/?lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Publication Ethics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span style=\"color:#7c838a\">PUBLICATION ETHICS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span style=\"color:#7c838a\">The Studies on Baltic History (FzbG) adheres to the following publication ethics:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span style=\"color:#7c838a\">1. Publication and authorship<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>All submitted articles are subject to a double blind peer-review process by at least two reviewers that are internationally renowned experts in the area of the particular paper.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>In the case of reviews and shorter contributions (<em><span>Miszellen<\/span><\/em>), a simplified quality-assurance procedure with only one expert opinion is applied.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>The possible decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection. Rejected articles will not be re-reviewed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>No copyright infringement or plagiarism.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span style=\"color:#7c838a\">2. Authors\u2019 responsibilities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Authors should present an objective discussion of the significance of research work as well as sufficient detail and references. Knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Authors must certify that their manuscripts are their original work and have not previously been published elsewhere (in \u201clarger\u201d languages like, e.g. German, English, French or Russian). A manuscript must not currently being considered for publication elsewhere.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Outstanding articles previously published only in \u201csmaller\u201d languages (e.g., Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian) might be translated if the editors so decide. Translated papers have to be revised by the authors and are subject to the usual peer-review process.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Authors are obliged to provide corrections of mistakes at any time, whether in the peer review process or later on in the editing, proofreading and typesetting of the article.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Authors must notify the Editors of any conflicts of interest.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Authors must identify all sources used in the creation of their manuscript.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span style=\"color:#7c838a\">3. Reviewers\u2019 responsibilities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Reviewers should keep all information regarding papers confidential.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments and, if necessary, identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the author.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:7.5pt;margin-left:0cm\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span style=\"color:#7c838a\">4. Editors\u2019 responsibilities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Editors have complete responsibility and authority to reject\/accept an article or to request modifications.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Editors should guarantee the academic quality of the papers. Their decisions should be solely based one the papers\u2019 importance, originality, clarity and relevance to publication\u2019s scope.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Any manuscripts received for review is treated as confidential documents. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Editors should preserve the anonymity of reviewers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Editors should ensure that all research material they publish conforms to internationally accepted ethical guidelines.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#7c838a\"><span style=\"line-height:15.75pt\"><span><span><span>Editors should not allow any conflicts of interest between staff, authors, reviewers and board members.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUBLICATION ETHICS The Studies on Baltic History (FzbG) adheres to the following publication ethics: 1.
