Ehkki v\u00e4likatsete suur eelis on asjaolu, et need toimuvad looduses kohapeal, tulenevad sellest eelisest ka piirangud, mis v\u00e4ljenduvad keskkonnatingimuste kontrollimatus varieeruvuses. See asjaolu teeb p\u00f5hjuslike seoste anal\u00fc\u00fcsimise v\u00e4likatsetes aegan\u00f5udvaks ja sageli keeruliseks. Selleks, et saada t\u00e4psemat \u00fclevaadet mehhanismide kohta mis puude talitlust ja kasvu erinevates tingimustes m\u00f5jutavad, on vajalikud ka m\u00f5\u00f5tmised kontrollitud kliimaga tingimustes \u2013 kasvukambrites. Ehkki vaba\u00f5hu katsete ja kliimakambrite tulemused konkreetsete keskkonnategurite m\u00f5jude uurimisel ei ole alati kokkulangevad, on taolised eksperimendid teineteist t\u00e4iendavad ja avavad sageli uusi vaatenurki t\u00f5statatud probleemile. \u2018Percival\u2019 kliimakambrites oleme katseid puittaimedega l\u00e4bi viidud alates 2008 aastast ning selle aja jooksul on uuringute raames kaitstud mitmeid bakalaureuse, magistri ja ka doktorit\u00f6id.
