The Estonian Astrobiology Day 2026\u00a0(hereafter EAP2026) is the first nationwide event of its kind in Estonia, aiming to establish and connect the Estonian astrobiology community\u2014bringing together researchers, students, and all those fascinated by the origin and distribution of life in the Universe.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Astrobiology is a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field that spans a wide range of disciplines, from the natural sciences to the humanities. The goal of EAP2026 is to bring these people and ideas together under one roof, foster new collaborations, and provide an overview of the current state and future prospects of astrobiology in both Estonia and Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scientific programme includes invited talks by international guest speakers:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Dr Ruth-Sophie Taubner\u00a0(Graz, Space Research Institute) will present how a successful and active astrobiology community was established in Austria, focusing on practical steps, challenges, and success stories.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Dr Wolf Geppert\u00a0(Stockholm University) will provide a broader overview of European astrobiology, including existing networks, collaboration opportunities, and available funding schemes.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, researchers from the University of Tartu\u00a0will introduce astrobiology-related research and opportunities in Tartu, ranging from current research directions to student projects and supervision possibilities. The programme also includes contributed talks by registered participants, offering a platform for early-career researchers, students, and enthusiasts to present their ideas and work.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the second half of the day, a poster session\u00a0will take place, designed to encourage informal discussions and interaction. This session provides an excellent opportunity to network, explore potential collaborations, ask questions, and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
