XI 1950) is a film director, children\u2019s author and playwright.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">P\u00f5ldma was born in Tallinn. From 1958 to 1969 he attended number 36 secondary school in Tallinn. From 1973 P\u00f5ldma worked in the animation department of the Tallinnfilm studio, initially as an assistant cameraman, later as a director of photography. In 1993 he started working in the Eesti Joonisfilm animation studio. He has been the director of photography of more than twenty animated films (tmost of Priit P\u00e4rn\u2019s films, and Rein Raamat\u2019s films <i>Suur T\u00f5ll <\/i><span style=\"font-style:normal\">and<\/span><i> P\u00f5rgu, <\/i>among others).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Janno P\u00f5ldma made his debut with stories in juvenile magazines in 1977. In 1985 he produced a collection of stories aimed at children, <i>D\u017euudopoisid <\/i>(\u2018The Judo Boys\u2019), which depicts the life of boys in fifth grade. The stories are exciting and spicy, and the author deals humorously with school problems.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">In the eighties and nineties P\u00f5ldma wrote several puppet plays and plays for young people about problems of contemporary youth and questions about life: <i>Poiss, kes ei tahtnud olla n\u00e4itleja <\/i>(\u2018The Boy Who Didn\u2019t Want to Be an Actor\u2019, staged at the Rakvere Theatre), <i>Teekond punktist A punkti B <\/i>(\u2018The Way From Point A to Point B\u2019, staged at the Ugala theatre, Viljandi) as well as <i>Koera pulm <\/i>(\u2018Dog\u2019s Wedding\u2019) and <i>S\u00f5ber kurk <\/i>(\u2018Cucumber, the Friend\u2019, staged at the Puppet Theatre). With the actor Lembit Ulfsak, P\u00f5ldma wrote the screenplay for the family-oriented feature film <i>Lammas all paremas nurgas <\/i>(\u2018A Sheep Down in the Bottom Right\u2019) in 1992. He has prepared screenplays for several puppet- and animated films, put on by himself.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Janno P\u00f5ldma and Heiki Ernits are the directors of the animated films about Lotte the puppy, which have won international popularity (<i>Lotte reis l\u00f5unamaale \u2013 \u2018<\/i>Lotte Goes South\u2019 \u2013 2000, <i>Leiutajatek\u00fcla Lotte \u2013 \u2018<\/i>Lotte from Gadgetville\u2019 \u2013 2006, <i>Lotte ja kuukivi saladus \u2013 \u2018<\/i>Lotte and the Moonstone Secret\u2019 \u2013 2011, <i>Lotte ja kadunud lohed \u2013<\/i> \u2018Lotte and the Lost <span style=\"font-weight:normal\">Dragons\u2019 \u2013<\/span> 2019). Lotte also has a life outside the film world; she is a character in numerous books, and she has a place in school textbooks. With Heiki Ernits, Janno P\u00f5ldma has written the books <i>Lepatriinide j\u00f5ulud <\/i>(\u2018The Ladybirds\u2019 Christmas\u2019, 2002), <i>Lotte ol\u00fcmpiaraamat <\/i>(\u2018Lotte\u2019s Olympic Book\u2019, 2008), and <i>Lotte ja kuukivi saladus, <\/i>(\u2018Lotte and the Moonstone Secret\u2019, 2013). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">In 2007 Janno P\u00f5ldma was awarded the Order of the White Star, Class IV.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\"><i>L.
