\n\tBernhard Weber (1874\u20131922) was an amateur poet.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHe was born in Tartu and attended the local elementary school and county school. He worked at R\u00f5ngu in Tartu County as an assistant to the parish clerk. Later, he worked as an accountant at a factory in Harju County and lived at Hageri.<\/font><\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWeber\u2019s poems appeared in the newspapers Olevik<\/i> and Postimees<\/i> and in the magazine Linda<\/i>. Three of his poems were published in the anthology Eesti luule<\/i> (\u2018Estonian Poetry\u2019, 1910) compiled by K. E. S\u00f6\u00f6t and G. Suits. A characteristic feature of his verses is dramatic sentimentalism. One of Weber\u2019s poems, Millal ilmub kepis\u00e4\u00e4dus?<\/i> (\u2018When Will the Law of the Cane be Enacted\u2019, on abolition of corporal punishment at manors) was published in the anthology Eesti luuleilm<\/i> (\u2018Estonian Poetic World\u2019) in 1913.<\/font><\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBernhard Weber compiled the first Estonian-language school yearbook Torupill<\/i> (\u2018Bagpipe\u2019), which came out from 1903\u20131906. Weber, together with the initiator of the yearbook, poet, journalist and playwright Otto Grossschmidt (1869\u20131941), his wife Liina Grossschmidt (1872\u20131952), poet Ernst Enno and some other literati belonged to the literary circle that emerged at Raigaste village school in the initial years of the 20th century.<\/font><\/font><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWeber has translated German literature into Estonian, most importantly some works by the Baltic German poet Leopold von Schroeder.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
