VII 1947) is a critic, literary scholar and journalist. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">J\u00f5gi was born and educated in Tallinn, and 1965 to 1970 she studied at the Faculty of History and Languages at the State University of Tartu, specialising in Finno-Ugric languages. She has worked at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences, the Friedebert Tuglas museum, and in the editorial offices of the <font style=\"11pt\">culture paper<\/font> <i>Sirp ja Vasar <\/i>(later called <i>Reede <\/i>and <i>Kultuurileht<\/i>) and the journal <i>Keel ja Kirjandus<\/i>. She has been the press spokeswoman for the Estonian Academy of Sciences, a consultant to the Ministry of Culture, and deputy chairwoman and chairwoman of the Literature Endowment of Estonia. She is a member of the Mother Tongue Society (since 1965), the Johannes Aavik Society (since 1994) and the Writers\u2019 Union (1985). She has been a member of the board of the Writers\u2019 Union. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">As a literary critic J\u00f5gi made her debut in 1971. She has published criticism and longer literary reviews in both cultural journals and specialist publications. Her interviews in <i>Sirp ja Vasar<\/i> have been collected in the volume <i>K\u00f5nelesid: jutuajamisi kirjarahva ja teadlastega aastatest 1979 \u2013 2006 <\/i>(\u2018Conversations: Chat with literary figures and scholars, 1979-2006\u2019, 2007). <i>Ajaloo ja argip\u00e4eva ees: artikleid ja m\u00e4lestusi <\/i>(\u2018Confronting History and the Everyday: Articles and Reminiscences\u2019, 2008) encompasses literary work from 1978 to 2007, concentrating on memory and recollection on the themes of history and everyday life. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">J\u00f5gi has compiled and edited books such as the memorial volume for Debora Vaarandi, <i>Aastad ja p\u00e4evad <\/i>(\u2018Years and Days\u2019, 2006) and the poetry collection <i>T\u00e4hine laotus tantsib <\/i>(\u2018The Starry Vault Dances\u2019, 2007) as well as Aino Kallas\u2019 <i>Londoni v\u00f5lus <\/i>(\u2018The Charm of London\u2019, 2010) and <i>Mu saatuse maa <\/i>(\u2018Land of My Destiny\u2019, 2012).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">J\u00f5gi has been awarded an annual prize by the journal <i>Keel ja kirjandus <\/i>for the article <i>Kivid ja leib. Plaanid ja teos <\/i>(\u2018Stones and Bread. Plans and Action\u2019, 1987) and the annual <i>Sirp <\/i>prize (1993). In 2006 he was presented with the Order of the White Star, class V, and in 2019 a special stipend from the Estonian National Culture Foundation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\"><i>A.
