He worked as a teacher and electrician, head of the department of readers\u2019 letters at the newspaper <em>Punane T\u00e4ht<\/em> and editor of radio broadcasts. He was a member of the Estonian Writers\u2019 Union from 1997.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Aarne Biin started to publish short prose in 1966, but the major part of his creation appeared after Estonia regained independence. His works concentrate on male characters whose twists and turns in life and searches for themselves are depicted in depth in various areas of life in the framework of the era. The scene of his books is set in both Soviet and present-day Estonia with flashbacks into the more distant past. Often, the instigators of the protagonists\u2019 searches and findings are female characters. War-time choices and life courses are observed in novels using documentary sources \u2013 <em>Peegelleitnandid<\/em> (\u2018Mirror Lieutenants\u2019, 2001) and <em>Ruts: s\u00f5jas ja vangis, armastuses ja abielus<\/em> (\u2018Ruts: in War and Prison, in Love and Marriage\u2019, 2009). The theme of his home county, Virumaa, has been applied in the novel <em>Lossi peremehed<\/em> (\u2018Lords of the Castle\u2019, 2016). His creation also includes pure thrillers, for example, <em>Venemaalt armastuseta<\/em> (\u2018From Russia Without Love\u2019, 2003) and <em>K\u00f5ikide saladuste v\u00f5ti<\/em> (\u2018Key to All Secrets\u2019, 2004).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Several of his novels that have attracted attention at novel competitions. In 1996 <em>K\u00f5ik, mida pole<\/em> (\u2018Everthing Which is Not\u2019, 1997) received the third prize. In 1998, the novel <em>Sarm<\/em> (\u2018Charm\u2019, published under the title <em>Sarmikas m\u00f5tleja<\/em> \u2013 \u2018Charming Thinker\u2019 \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">in 2001) and in 2000 the novel <em>Kuningvesi<\/em> (\u2018Aqua Regia\u2019) deserved honorary mention. In 2006 the novel <em>Linna valitsemine<\/em> (\u2018Governing of the Town\u2019, 2007) received the third prize.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">A.
