He completed Tallinn Secondary School No. 2 (now Tallinn Secondary School of Science) in 1966, graduated from the Estonian Academy of Agriculture in 1971 as a forest engineer and in 1989 from Tartu State University as a journalist. From 1972\u20131978, he worked as an appraiser at the Estonian Forest Management Centre, then as a supervisor of Estonian school forestry teams. From 2002\u20132015, he was the editor-in-chief of the journal <em>Eesti Mets<\/em>. He has been a member of the Estonian Writers\u2019 Union since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hendrik Relve has published articles and written popular science books and textbooks on themes of nature since 1975. Since 2001, he has been the author of the popular radio broadcasts series <em>Kuula r\u00e4ndajat<\/em> (\u2018Listen to the Traveller\u2019) on the Vikerraadio channel. He has measured and described hundreds of primeval trees in Estonia and travelled to dozens of countries on all continents.<br><br><em>L. P. (Translated by I.
