Tarlap\u2019s first fantasy story T\u00e4nav akna taga (\u2018The Street Behind the Window\u2019) was published in the magazine Noorus in 1988. His stories have been published as serials in county newspapers. Some stories were published in the magazines <em>Horisont<\/em> and <em>Favoriit<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarlap\u2019s first book, the collection of stories <em>Viiking, kes armastas haisid<\/em> (\u2018The Viking Who Loved Sharks\u2019) was published in 2001. Tarlap\u2019s work is included in <em>Eesti ulme antoloogia<\/em> (\u2018Estonian Science Fiction Anthology\u2019), published in 2002. Outside science fiction and fantasy, Tiit Tarlap\u2019s best-known work is <em>T\u0161ernob\u00f5l 1986<\/em> (\u2018Chernobyl 1986\u2019), published in 1993, which tells the story of the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, where Tarlap was forcibly sent. The book has been translated into English and Japanese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2005, with the help of P\u00e4rnu Chernobyl veterans, Tarlap published the collection of two short novels, <em>Kurjuse tund. Koidiku lapsed<\/em> (\u2018The Hour of Evil. Children of the Dawn\u2019). Tarlap\u2019s novel <em>Meie, kromanjoonlased<\/em> (\u2018We, the Cro-Magnons\u2019) was published in 2009. After that, Tarlap published a book almost every year. Tarlap\u2019s work is characterized by adventurousness, glorification of male values, social criticism and the author\u2019s intransigence with the growing falsity and inhumanity in the world. One of the characteristic features of Tarlap\u2019s fantasy is its strong origin in crime literature.<br>Tiit Tarlap received the Stalker award for science fiction twice: for the novella <em>Vihkamise suund<\/em> (\u2018The Direction of Hate\u2019) and the novel <em>L\u00f5hestusjoon<\/em> (\u2018The Line of Rupture\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>L.
