He has worked as a teacher. From 1948 he worked on Estonian Radio and from 1965 on Estonian Television. He was a member of the Estonian Association of Journalists from 1958 and a received the title of Merited Journalist of the Estonian SSR in 1974. He died in Tallinn and was buried in Metsakalmistu (\u2018Forest Cemetery\u2019).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tValdo Pant acquired legendary fame primarily as a radio and television journalist. His broadcast series about the Second World War, <em>T\u00e4na 25 aastat tagasi<\/em> (\u2018Today 25 Years Ago\u2019, aired from 1966\u20131970) gained immense popularity and received an award of the USSR Association of Journalists in 1967. The series dealing with themes hushed up until then reintroduced relatively free exchange of thoughts on television.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tGood command of the topic and interesting protagonists are also characteristic of Pant\u2019s plays, of which <em>Avarii<\/em> (\u2018Accident\u2019, staged at the Estonian Drama Theatre in 1963) concentrates on issues of work ethics in oil shale industry. The criminal play <em>Lasud tuisus<\/em> (\u2018Shots in the Blizzard\u2019) was staged at the Ugala theatre in 1977. Pant\u2019s plays have been published in <em>N\u00e4idendid<\/em> (\u2018Plays\u2019, 1978).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHe has written scripts for feature films \u2014 <em>\u00d5htust hommikuni<\/em> (\u2018From Evening till Morning\u2019, 1962, director Leida Laius), documentaries \u2014 <em>Ilu meie \u00fcmber<\/em> (\u2018Beauty around Us\u2019, 1960), <em>Kivid ja leib<\/em> (\u2018Stones and Bread\u2019, 1965), and puppet films \u2014 <em>Ott kosmoses<\/em> (\u2018Ott in Outer Space\u2019, 1961), <em>Hiirejaht<\/em> (\u2018Hunt on Mice\u2019, 1965), <em>Kurepoeg<\/em> (\u2018Little Stork\u2019, 1967), all directed by Elbert Tuganov.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tEstonian Television has issued the Valdo Pant Journalism Prize since 1980.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>A.
