From 1957, he attended school in Tallinn, from 1970\u20131974 studied at Tallinn Pedagogical Institute from which he graduated as a teacher of mathematics. He worked for the humour magazine <em>Pikker<\/em> and the newspaper <em>P\u00fchap\u00e4evaleht<\/em> and as chief editor of the fishing magazine <em>Kalastaja<\/em>. He is a member of the Estonian Writers\u2019 Union from 1991.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">The creative path of the versatile author Kor\u017eets began with humorous stories, the first of which was published in the newspaper <em>Noorte H\u00e4\u00e4l<\/em> in 1974. He has written plays for children, e.g. <em>N\u00e4\u00e4rila ja N\u00e4rula<\/em> (a new year performance, staged in 1983, 20 years later staged under the title <em>J\u00f5uluvana ja J\u00f5levana<\/em> \u2013 \u2018Santa Claus and Creepy Claus\u2019) and <em>Koll Kalli<\/em> (\u2018Bogeyman Kalli\u2019, staged in 1985) and for adults, e.g. the comedy <em>T\u00fchivaim<\/em> (\u2018Hollow Spirit\u2019, staged in 1986) which is based on <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/t\/tammsaare\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/t\/tammsaare\" title=\"\">A. H. Tammsaare<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">\u2019s novel <em>P\u00f5rgup\u00f5hja uus Vanapagan<\/em> (\u2018The Misadventures of the New Satan\u2019) and shows the vices of the present-day world in a distorting mirror. <em>T\u00fchivaim<\/em> received the second prize at the playwriting competition of the Youth Theatre.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">The collections of children\u2019s stories <em>\u00dcks t\u00fcdruk, nimi Merike<\/em> (\u2018A Girl Called Merike\u2019, 1982) and <em>\u00dckskord \u00fches paigas<\/em> (\u2018Once at a Place\u2019, 2018) have appeared as separate books.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Kor\u017eets has written film scripts, comical sketches and song lyrics. His lyrics for the song <em>Aed<\/em> (\u2018The Garden\u2019, 1987) by the famous Estonian rock group Ultima Thule was voted<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"> the best Estonian rock lyrics of all time by readers of the culture portal of Estonian Public Broadcasting in 2020. He has been the presenter of the environment programme <em>Osoon<\/em> (\u2018Ozone\u2019) on Estonian Television. In recent years, he has also attracted attention as a poet. His debut collection <em>Laulud v\u00f5i nii<\/em> (\u2018Songs or So\u2019, 2016, Literature Endowment Annual Award) is full of puns and language games. It contains both humorous and everlasting themes and reflections; its conceptual sequel is <em>Inglijaht, ehk Uued laulud v\u00f5i nii<\/em> (\u2018Hunt on Angels or New Songs or So\u2019, 2020).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Kor\u017eets has also received the second prize in Moscow in 1987 for his radio play <em>Taevane muna<\/em> (\u2018Heavenly Egg\u2019, staged in 1982), the Oskar Luts Humour Prize (1988), the Order of the White Star, Class V (2011) and the Estonian Honorary Nature Conservation Badge (2017).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">A.
