VI 1970) is a children\u2019s author and journalist.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">She graduated from the Tallinn Pedagogical Institute (now the University of Tallinn) specialising in stage direction in 1992. She has worked as a news editor and programme director at Kuku Raadio, TV1 and ETV. Since 2019 she has been editor of the magazine T\u00e4heke. She has been a member of the Writers\u2019 Union since 2014.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Hinrikus came to children\u2019s literature with the personal memory-based books <i>Miia ja Friida <\/i>(\u2018Mia and Frida\u2019, 2008) and <i>Kui emad olid v\u00e4ikesed <\/i>(\u2018When Mums Were Small\u2019, 2009) which tell from experience what it is like to be a child in different generations. The plots of Hinrikus\u2019 warm and friendly children\u2019s books are mostly set in contemporary times, dealing with various current topics, such as the award-winning <i>Katariina ja herned <\/i>(\u2018Katarina and the Peas\u2019, 2017), dealing with the break-up of a family and the problems of a foster-family, and the ever greater influence of smart technology on human relationships. In the book <i>Taaniel Teine <\/i>(\u2018Daniel the Second\u2019, 2015),<i> <\/i> because his parents are working abroad Taaniel lives with his grandfather, who tries to support the boy in every way. The issues of coping for a brother and sister who live with their father after their mother dies are treated in <i>Et head haldjad sind hoiaksid <\/i>(\u2018May Good Fairies Look After You\u2019, 2012). Instead of children as the central figures, animals appear as the protagonists in stories, such as the view of the world of dogs in <i>Taks ja Dogi <\/i>(\u2018Dachshund and Mastiff\u2019, 2020).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Apart from realistic stories, Hinrikus has also written literary fairy tales, such as <i>\u00c4ra muretse mu p\u00e4rast <\/i>(\u2018Don\u2019t Worry about Me\u2019, 2018). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Hinrikus has been awarded the Good Children\u2019s Book prize for <i>Et head haldajad sind hoiaksid <\/i>and <i>Katariina ja herned<\/i>. <i>Katariina ja herned <\/i>also won the Tartu children\u2019s book award. The International Youth Library, Internationale Jugendbibliothek, has chosen for \u2018The White Ravens\u2019, its catalogue of children\u2019s books, <i>Et head haldajad sind hoiaksid <\/i>and <i>Taaniel Teine.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.19in;margin-bottom:0.08in\" lang=\"et-EE\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\"><i>A.
