IX 1950) is a prose writer and poet.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">From 1958 to 1967 she attended Secondary School number 10 in Tallinn, and graduated from Secondary School number 16 in 1970. She has worked as an archivist, a batik and porcelain painter, and as a laboratory assistant. Subsequently she has been a freelance writer, a member of the Estonian Writers\u2019 Union since 1993. She is the daughter of the writers Aadu Hint and Minni Nurme.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Eeva Park\u2019s debut <i>M\u00f5rkjas tuul <\/i>(\u2018Bitter Wind\u2019) appeared in 1983. It consisted of poems about nature and love, meditating on the vicissitudes of life. In her second collection, <i>\u00d6\u00f6 valgus <\/i>(\u2018Light at Night\u2019, 1990) she reveals an intuitive sense of tragedy and darkness.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">In 1988 Eeva Park published a story based on her grandfather\u2019s diaries, <i>Hullu Hansu lugu <\/i>(\u2018The Story of Mad Hans\u2019) about a farmer living in 19<sup>th<\/sup>-century Viljandimaa, whose opposition to traditions brought about his own demise. In this work the critics found the influence of the prose of Eeva Park\u2019s aunt (Minni Nurme\u2019s sister) Salme Ekbaum. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">In 1994 Eeva Park\u2019s short story \u2018Juhuslik\u2019 (\u2018By Chance\u2019) won the Friedebert Tuglas short story prize. Park\u2019s story collection <i>P\u00e4\u00e4se karussellile <\/i>(\u2018Ticket to the Merry-go-round\u2019, 2000) almost constitutes a complete novel, with its repetition of themes and characters. Her first novel, <i>Torm ja tuul <\/i>(\u2018Storm and Wind\u2019, 1992), and the novel <i>Naeru \u00f5pilane <\/i>(\u2018The Student of Laughter\u2019), published in 1998, comprise an autobiographical cycle, a saga of the fate of a bohemian family, dominated by psychological realism. The novel <i>L\u00f5ks l\u00f5pmatuses <\/i>(\u2018A Trap in Infinity\u2019, 2003) describes human trafficking in Eastern Europe from the viewpoint of a female victim. The work won the Eduard Vilde literature prize in 2004. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Eeva Park\u2019s prose is teeming with finely distinguished and conveyed psychic tensions. Her use of language is concise and precise.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">In 2018 Eeva Park received the Literature Endowment Annual Award for her book of memoirs <i>Minu kuninglikud kaelkirjakud <\/i>(\u2018My Royal Giraffes\u2019). The work depicts her recollections of authors with whom Eeva Park came into contact in childhood. The stories reflect the fates of creative people in Estonia in the twentieth century, the upheavals of history and the effects of the ideological persecutions in the fifties. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">Eeva Park has also written dramas and radio plays.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.28cm\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\"><i>L.
