From 1982\u20131987, he studied history at Tartu State University and graduated from the university <em>cum laude<\/em> as a historian and teacher of history and social studies. From 1989\u20131993, he studied journalism at the University of Tartu (called Tartu State University in the Soviet period) and completed his studies by distance learning\u00a0<em>cum laude<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">From 1987\u20131993, he worked as a teacher of history at Haljala Secondary School, later as a journalist (for the newspapers <em>Maaleht<\/em>, <em>\u00c4rip\u00e4ev<\/em>, and <em>Postimees<\/em>). From\u00a0 2014\u20132017, Sulev Oll was a member of the Press Council at the Estonian Newspaper Association. From 2015, he was communication manager at Tallinn University, from 2021, he works as head of strategic communication at Tallinn University of Technology. Sulev Oll has been a member of the Estonian Writers\u2019 Union from 2012.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">At the beginning of his creative career, Oll wrote mainly for children. Having shared his creation for years only with his family, Sulev Oll published his first books 2008. In the same year, the poetry book <em>Hea tuju kuju<\/em> (\u2018Figure of Cheerful Mood\u2019), illustrated by Reti Saks, received the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/s\/soot\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/s\/soot\" title=\"\">Karl Eduard S\u00f6\u00f6t<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"> Prize for children\u2019s poetry.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">The author\u2019s close emotional ties with his home region and folklore have inspired the poetry collections <em>Vana s\u00f5na vallatused<\/em> (\u2018Frolics of Old Words\u2019) and <em>P\u00e4evad k\u00e4ivad p\u00e4rip\u00e4eva<\/em> (\u2018Days Go Clockwise\u2019) and the story collection <em>Virumaa viguriga lood<\/em> (\u2018Mischievous Stories of Virumaa County\u2019).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Along with children\u2019s poetry, Sulev Oll has published several poetry collections for adults. In 2009, he won the first place at <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/l\/kaljulepik\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/l\/kaljulepik\" title=\"\">Kalju Lepik<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"> Poetry Competition.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">In 2011, Sulev Oll published the novel <em>P\u00f5rgup\u00f5hja viimane J\u00fcrka<\/em> (\u2018The Last Satan of the Deepest Hell\u2019). The book was written for a competition; the aim was to write a sequel to <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/t\/tammsaare\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/t\/tammsaare\" title=\"\">A. H. Tammsaare<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">\u2019s novel <em>P\u00f5rgup\u00f5hja uus Vanapagan<\/em> (\u2018The Misadventures of the New Satan\u2019). The book is philosophical in his manner.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Oll has published biographical books <em>Keskmaajooks. Eesti kergej\u00f5ustiku kultusala<\/em> (\u2018Middle-distance Run. The Pinnacle of Estonian Athletics, together Tiit L\u00e4\u00e4ne, 2000), <em>Indrek Neivelt, Hansapanga juht<\/em> (\u2018Indrek Neivelt, Leader of Hansabank\u2019, 2001) and <em>Aeg annab k\u00f5ik<\/em> (\u2018Time Gives All\u2019, an interview with singer Heidy Tamme, 2010).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">In cooperation between Sulev Oll and composer Rasmus Puur, the cantata <em>Vabaduse tuul, tarkuse tuul<\/em> (\u2018Wind of Freedom, Wind of Wisdom\u2019) was completed in 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><em>L.
