She has worked as a teacher and a journalist. Ilves works as a journalist for the newspaper <em>L\u00e4\u00e4ne Elu<\/em>, which is published in Haapsalu.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;\">Kaie Ilves made her debut with poems in the magazine <em>Noorus<\/em> in March 1986. She has published dozen books for children. Ilves\u2019 first book for children, <em>T\u00e4di, Motja ja teised<\/em> (\u2018Aunt, Motja and Others\u2019) appeared in 2012. The characters of several books are cats or other animals. The stories have been written so that adult readers could also feel the joy or recognition.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;\">Ilves has published three poetry collections. The poetry collection <em>Eikeegi<\/em> (\u2018Nobody, 2017) is a free-verse recording of a lost (childhood) world. The second poetry collection <em>Klaasipuhuja<\/em> (\u2018Glass Blower\u2019) appeared in 2019. In the second poetry collection, the author also wanders in memories, but the mood of the book is brighter and more playful.<\/span><\/span><\/span> The third collection, <em>Ilmak\u00fcla<\/em> (\u2018World Village\u2019, 2025), explores the boundaries of sleep and waking world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;\">L.
