For three years, she studied history at the University of Tartu. Thereafter, Katrin Pauts started working as a journalist in print media and on television.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Pauts made her debut in 2016 with two crime novels \u2013 <em>Politseiniku t\u00fctar. Saaremaa p\u00f5nevik<\/em> (\u2018Policeman\u2019s Daughter. Saaremaa thriller\u2019) and <em>Tulekandja. Muhumaa p\u00f5nevik<\/em> (\u2018Fire Carrier. Muhu thriller\u2019), which were published soon after each other, received positive reviews and proved popular among readers. The action of Pauts\u2019s novels takes place in rural areas, which is an innovative approach in Estonian crime fiction. After her first books, Pauts has published a new crime book each year, in some years two. She has become one of the best-known Estonian crime writers. In 2021, Pauts published the short story collection <em>Tallinna tume: tavaliste inimeste v\u00e4ikesed nurjatused<\/em> (\u2018Tallinn Dark: Ordinary People\u2019s Small Abominations\u2019), which deserved critics\u2019 approval and was compared to Werner Bergengruen\u2019s book <em>Der Tod von Reval<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Pauts is also known as a straightforward critic.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">L.
