She has translated classical and contemporary prose and poetry from English, Spanish and Portuguese. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"line-height:108%\">She has published two collections of poetry: <i>Horror Vacui (<\/i>2013), which won the University of Tallinn literature prize, and <i>Eleegiad. Elegies <\/i>(2016), a bilingual Estonian-English collection of photographs and poems (with Teri Varhol). Very often her poems deal with such subjects as emptiness, mourning, solitude, shame, humiliation. The driving force of the poems is reverence for life, the attempt to get at the core of things. Vassenin\u2019s many-layered poetry is characterised by existential courage and an effort to see the beauty of life even in its most forbidding manifestations.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:0.11in\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><em><span style=\"line-height:108%\">L.
