He continued his education at the University of Copenhagen where he studied Faroese culture (1991). He has worked at the Estonian Literary Museum and been an actor at Tartu Children\u2019s Theatre. He belonged to Tartu Young Authors\u2019 Association (chairman 1983\u20131986) and is a member of Pallas Art Society (from 1988), Estonian Actor\u2019s Union (1993), <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/r\/ristikivi\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/r\/ristikivi\" title=\"\">Karl Ristikivi<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"> Society (2001), Estonian Association of Art Historians and Curators (2002) and Jaan T\u00f5nisson Society.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">He made his debut in literature with a short story which was awarded the second prize at the story competition of the newspaper <em>Edasi<\/em> in 1978. Since the early 1980s, he has published poems. His first poetry collection <em>Olemise valge koer ehk ingli kolju<\/em> (\u2018The White Dog of Existence or the Angel\u2019s Skull\u2019, 1994) has been influenced by surrealist undercurrents and the poetry of the Arbujad grouping, which is also noticeable in the poetry collection <em>Joon haljast valgust nagu vett: teine kogu luulet 1993\u20132015<\/em> (\u2018I Drink Pure Light Like Water: The Second Collection of Poetry 1993\u20132015\u2019, 2016). An essential place in Lillemets\u2019 creation belongs to the town of Tartu and allusions to other texts.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Lillemets is also a recognised cultural historian. He has performed in various television and radio broadcasts, arranged exhibitions, issued different publications, compiled collections, e.g., a collection of short stories by <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/v\/vallak\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/v\/vallak\" title=\"\">Peet Vallak<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">, <em>Hinge taud<\/em> (\u2018Disease of Soul\u2019, 1983) and <\/span><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/a\/alver\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/a\/alver\" title=\"\">Betti Alver<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><em>. Usutlused. Kirjad. P\u00e4evikukatked. M\u00e4lestused<\/em> (\u2018Betti Alver. Interviews. Letters. Excerpts from Diaries. Memories\u2019, 2007) compiled in cooperation with Kristi Metste.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">In 1987, he received the annual award of the journal <em>Looming<\/em> for a cycle of poems and the article <em>Daniel Palgi ja Peet Vallak<\/em> (\u2018Daniel Palgi and Peet Vallak\u2019) and, in 2004, the annual award of Tartu Cultural Endowment for keeping up the traditions of Pallas Art Society.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\"><em>A.
