Urve Tinnuri (born 1953) is a poet, novelist, children\u2019s writer and journalist.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTinnuri was born at Viru-Jaagupi. She attended Viru-Jaagupi primary school, later Tartu Johannes Semper Secondary School No 8, which specialised in literature. She has studied Estonian philology at the University of Tartu. She is a member of the Estonian Writers\u2019 Union from 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTinnuri published her first verses in the school yearbook. Her first poetry collection V\u00e4raval<\/em> (\u2018At the Gate\u2019) came out in 2001. Urve Tinnuri became particularly fruitful in the second decade of the 21st century. In addition to poetry collections, she has published numerous books for children, also novels. Tinnuri\u2019s novels are centred on female characters in the stage of formation. In most novels, the author describes problems in the life of Estonian women in the decades after World War II.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tUrve Tinnuri has been an active writer of opinion articles for the newspaper Viru Teataja<\/em>; her articles have also been published in the newspaper Vooremaa<\/em> and the magazines Eesti Naine<\/em>, Elukiri<\/em> and Tervis Pluss<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2013, Urve Tinnuri\u2019s book for children, Laisk n\u00f5udepesumasin<\/em> (\u2018Lazy Dishwashing Machine\u2019) received the Karl Eduard S\u00f6\u00f6t Prize for children\u2019s poetry.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
