She also worked in this speciality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She started her literary activity in the mid-1960s when her stories for children were published in the magazine <em>T\u00e4heke<\/em>. In 1967, Maripuu\u2019s story <em>Vana testamendi Jehoova<\/em> (\u2018Jehovah of the Old Testament\u2019) won the third prize in the short story competition of the journal <em>Looming<\/em>. Her work also deserved honorary mention in the short story competitions of the following years. The short story collections <em>Majas rappuvad seinad <\/em>(\u2018Walls are Shaking in the House\u2019, 1971) and <em>Ma k\u00fcsin<\/em> (\u2018I Ask\u2019, 1974) are notable for their strong female characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Maripuu\u2019s literature for children, the central role belongs to adaptations of folk traditions and beliefs, legends and tales, for example in the collections <em>Paganamaa legend<\/em> (\u2018The Legend of Paganamaa\u2019, 1980) and <em>J\u00f5gi ei peatu kunagi<\/em> (\u2018The River Never Halts\u2019, 1984). <em>Oota j\u00e4rgmise hommikuni<\/em> (\u2018Wait Until Next Morning\u2019, 1989) takes a look at the world of teenagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maripuu has also written radio plays, such as <em>Mida sa \u00fctleksid Aap Penderile?<\/em> (\u2018What Would You Say to Aap Pender?\u2019, broadcast in 1967) and <em>Esimene, l\u00fc\u00fcriline ehk Lugu j\u00e4\u00e4tunud kosest<\/em> (\u2018The First, Lyrical, or the Story of a Frozen Waterfall\u2019, broadcast in 1973).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A.
