From 1975\u20131977, he worked at the editorial offices of the children\u2019s magazine <em>T\u00e4heke<\/em> and the youth magazine <em>Pioneer<\/em>; from 1977\u20131985, he was chief editor of <em>Pioneer<\/em> and from 1986\u20131988 chief editor of the journal <em>Teater. Muusika. Kino<\/em>. Oskar Tanner was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1969\u20131989. Tanner has also worked for the newspaper <em>Rahva H\u00e4\u00e4l<\/em> and, from 1995\u20131998, as cultural editor of the newspapers <em>Eesti S\u00f5numid<\/em> and <em>S\u00f5numileht<\/em>. From 1998, he was chief editor of Tiritamm publishers.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">Tanner became known for youth stories published in the magazine <em>Pioneer<\/em>, which realistically depicted episodes of that time\u2019s school life.\u00a0 In 1982, 1985 and 1994, Tanner published three collections of stories for children. In 2006, Tanner published a bulky novel with autobiographical elements, <em>Mai l\u00f5pus \u00f5itsevad sirelid<\/em> (\u2018Lilacs Bloom at the End of May\u2019). The theme of the novel is schoolboys\u2019 life in Tallinn in the mid-1950s. It offers a balanced picture of young people\u2019s emotional life in a historically realistic atmosphere.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:13px\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif\">L.
