She studied at the art class of Tallinn Old Town Educational College and Estonian language and literature at Tallinn Pedagogical University for four years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tJana Lepik\u2019s poems were published in the compendium of the literary grouping Tallinna Noored Tegijad (Young Doers of Tallinn) <em>M\u00f5ned ei tahtnudki<\/em> (\u2018Some Didn\u2019t Even Want to\u2019) in 2000. Her first poetry collection <em>Silmus ja s\u00f5lm<\/em> (\u2018Loop and Knot\u2019) appeared as an audio file on the Internet and could for some time be downloaded from the homepage of the Bahama Press publisher. Along with Priit Kruus, Hedda Maurer and <a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/p\/neemepoder\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/p\/neemepoder\" title=\"\">Neeme P\u00f5der<\/a>, Lepik belonged to the literary grouping !Peatus founded in 2002. In 2004, the Tuum publishing company issued Lepik\u2019s debut book, the poetry collection <em>Lahtine taevas<\/em> (\u2018The Open Sky\u2019) which expresses the severe grief she experienced.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn the following years, Lepik published nine books of poetry. Initially, the critics called the author a figurative female urbanist and mourner who might be compared to <a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/k\/kolla\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/k\/kolla\" title=\"\">Ilmi Kolla<\/a> and <a data-url=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/a\/alver\" href=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/ewod\/a\/alver\" title=\"\">Betti Alver<\/a>. From the poetry collection <em>Tagasi olevikku<\/em> (\u2018Back to the Present\u2019, 2010) onwards, the poet has been seen as a down-to-earth interpreter of social affairs. Jana Lepik\u2019s verse lines are mostly short; sometimes they contain inventive imperfect rhymes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>L. P. (Translated by I.
