On December 12, 2025, a symposium entitled \u201cThe Poetry of J\u00fcri Talvet\u201d was held at the Institute of Cultural Studies at the University of Tartu to celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor Emeritus J\u00fcri Talvet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u00fcri Talvet\u2019s diverse activities include literary research, translation, editing, and cultural relations. But above all, Talvet is a poet whose poetry collections have been published over the course of five decades. During the symposium, Talvet\u2019s friends, colleagues, and students gathered to read and interpret the most complex and intimate part of his creative work. Presentations were given by Liina Lukas, Tanar Kirs, Klaarika Kaldj\u00e4rv, Mari Laan, Arne Merilai, Kirke Rumvolt, \u00dclar Ploom, Rebekka Lotman, Rein Veidemann, Marta Selma Gr\u00fcnvald, Taimi Paves, Rahel Ariel Kaur, and Jaanus Valk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
