One of the most prominent integration tools of EU\u2019s regional policy remains the <strong>European Neighbourhood Policy<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:#ffffff;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">In this respect, the <strong>Eastern Partnership<\/strong>, which was established in 2009, represents the Eastern dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The context which accelerated the launch of the initiative was the war between Russia and Georgia in 2008 and the need to enhance political association and to deepen economic integration between the EU and its Eastern neighbours.<\/span><span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\"> <\/span><span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:#ffffff;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">The Eastern Partnership has two tracks: (1) bilateral and (2) multilateral. <\/span>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height:1.4000000000000001;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align:justify\">\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\" id=\"docs-internal-guid-5c763206-7fff-dff6-0c24-b365d70de63d\" style=\"line-height:1.4000000000000001;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align:justify;background-color:#ffffff\">\r\n\t<span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:#ffffff;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">The<strong> bilateral track<\/strong> works to supports political and socio-economic reforms in partner countries to f<\/span><span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">oster political association and further economic integration with the EU; enhance sector cooperation; and support mobility of citizens and visa-free travel as a long-term goal.<\/span>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height:1.4000000000000001;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align:justify\">\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height:1.4000000000000001;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align:justify\">\r\n\t<span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:#ffffff;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">The\u00a0<strong>multilateral dimension<\/strong>\u00a0complements bilateral relations with:<\/span><span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\"> thematic platforms to exchange best practices on issues of mutual interest such as good governance, economic integration as well as flagship initiatives, which are regional cooperation programmes in the fields of: energy, environment, response to disasters, border management, and support to small businesses.<\/span>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height:1.4000000000000001;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align:justify\">\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height:1.4000000000000001;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align:justify\">\r\n\t<span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:#ffffff;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">To define the future agenda of the partnership, EaP <\/span><span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">summits are held every two years and serve as an opportunity for heads of states and governments of all member and partner countries to meet and define the general lines of the EaP policy.
