The following course is offered in the sisu online environment and can be accessed at any time.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1562589219446_223\">\n\t<span id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1562589219446_224\" style=\"OpenSans,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;small\">The main aim of the course is to provide an interdisciplinary overview of EU-Russia relations through showcasing its dynamics and multi-<\/span>vectorness<span id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1562589219446_225\" style=\"OpenSans,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;small\"> from economics, security, political science, and media studies perspectives; as well as to demonstrate the impact of both actors\u2019 policies on the post-Soviet space.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1562589219446_227\">\n\t<span id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1562589219446_226\" style=\"OpenSans,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;small\">The temporal focus is on the period between November 2013 and May 2015. The course is organized into five lectures and covers such key events in EU-Russia relations as the Eastern Partnership Summits in Vilnius and Riga; the Sochi Olympics; the annexation of Crimea; as well as the imposition of EU\u2019s sanctions on Russia and the Kremlin\u2019s food embargo on European agriculture products. The course also discusses and explains such theoretical concepts as \u2018state identity\u2019, \u2018soft annexation\u2019 and the main principles of economic sanctions.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n\t<strong>Is preliminary knowledge needed?<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" id=\"docs-internal-guid-1b1bc230-7fff-c3d2-05c2-e20a76a6d190\" style=\"line-height:1.2;margin-top:6pt;margin-bottom:8pt;text-align:justify\">\n\t<span style=\"NewRoman';color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline\">Basic knowledge of international relations and EU-Russia relations terminology is recommended. She received her master\u2019s degree from the University of Tartu in European Union \u2013 Russia Studies (cum laude), and obtained her undergraduate degree in International Relations and Security Studies from the University of Bradford (United Kingdom). Her area of expertise involves politics of Russia and former Soviet bloc, EU-Russia relations, e-democracy and democratic insinuation\/reform building with a geographical focus on Russia and Eastern Europe. Her works has been previously published in the Latvian Foreign and Security Yearbook (2014, 2015) and Baltic Rim Economies.\u00a0\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"media-image\" height=\"164\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ut.ee\/sites\/default\/files\/givi_0.jpg\" style=\"'OpenSans',Arial,sans-serif;0.813em;line-height:13.008px;width:100px;height:126px;float:left;margin-left:10px;margin-right:10px\" width=\"130\">\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t<strong>Givi Gigitashvil<\/strong> is\u00a0Givi Gigitashvili is a Research Assistant at the Atlantic Council\u2019s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab). He holds MA degree in the EU-Russia studies from the University of Tartu. Givi has gathered versatile professional and research experience through engaging with various think tanks in Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, Germany, and Poland. Most recently he held the International Development Consultant\u2019s position, providing research and consultancy services to a wide range of public and private clients in Eastern European countries. Givi\u2019s professional interests include, but are not limited to the politics of ex-Soviet countries, the EU-Russia relations, and the Eastern Partnership programme.\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"media-image\" height=\"160\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ut.ee\/sites\/default\/files\/thomasl.jpg\" style=\"'OpenSans',Arial,sans-serif;0.813em;line-height:13.008px;width:100px;height:124px;float:left;margin-left:10px;margin-right:10px\" width=\"129\">\n\t\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t\t<strong>Thomas Linsenmaier<\/strong> is a Junior Research Fellow at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies. He received his Diploma (MA equivalent) in Political Science from Free University Berlin in 2011. His main research interests revolve around International Relations theory, particularly the English School tradition, and issues related to European integration, EU foreign policy and diplomacy.
