Marika Mägi (PhD)

EST: Olen uurinud peamiselt rauaaja teist poolt ja keskajaga Saaremaal ja Põhja-Eestis, kuid laiemad uurimisteemad on käsitlenud viikingiaega kogu Läänemere idakaldal ja Skandinaavias. Põhihuvid on seotud ühiskonna ja kommunikatsiooniga. Hetkel tegelen 13. sajandi linnuste ja varakristlike kalmistutega, tehes selle juures rohkesti koostööd geoloogide, geneetikute ja bioarheoloogidega. Olen vanemteadur Tallinna Ülikoolis ning juhin Saaremaa varasema ajaloo uurimisele pühendunud  SA Osilianat (www.osiliana.eu), mis osaleb Esterra projektis.

ENG: My interest lies primarily in the latest half of Iron Age and Middle Ages in Saaremaa and northern Estonia, but my earlier research has covered the Viking Age in the whole eastern Baltic and Scandinavian region. The main focus of my research is on society and communication. My latest subjects are 13^th-century hillforts and early Christian burials, in which I cooperate with geologists, geneticists and bioarchaeologists. I am Associated Professor at Tallinn University, and the head of Foundation Osiliana, the research centre for the early history of Saaremaa (www.osiliana.eu/en/) that participates in the Esterra Project.
