The Estonian Cancer Network bases its activities on the objectives set out in the Estonian Cancer Control Plan 2021-2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 100 Estonian experts: doctors, nurses, patient representatives, and researchers participated in the preparation of the Estonian Cancer Control Plan 2021-2030. The Plan describes the progress and shortcomings of cancer care in Estonia so far and sets priorities for the future: how to meet the challenges facing cancer care and the health system, how to ensure the best possible outcomes for every patient, and how to support patients and their loved ones on their cancer journey. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cancer control has three major goals:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To reduce the number of people with cancer in Estonia\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. People live longer and healthier lives after a cancer diagnosis.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. People living with cancer have a better quality of life. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Working groups of experts formulated a Cancer Control Plan, setting out the problems in their field, the objectives and the actions needed to achieve them. In total, 15 thematic clusters were established, bringing together more than 200 goals and implementation activities up to 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                                      Cancer Control Steering Group\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                                      At the end of 2022, a Cancer Control Steering Group was established by the Ministry of Social Affairs to monitor the implementation of the objectives of the Cancer Control Plan. \u00a0The Steering Group considers the priority and feasibility of activities in the Cancer Control Plan and monitors their impact on the country\u2019s epidemiological landscape and on cancer care.
