See O&N4 location here .\nDate: 2 October 2025\nTime: 8:30–18:00 (CET)\n\nThis intensive\, one-day course provides an in-depth exploration of long-read sequencing technologies and their transformative applications in medical genomics. Participants will gain valuable insights from leading experts\, including cutting-edge techniques for analysing long-read data\, clinical applications in rare diseases and cancer genomics\, and the use of multi-omics approaches in complex disorders. Check the preliminary agenda here.\nOrganised as a collaborative effort between the EU-funded project EASIGEN-DS (Design Study for a Research Infrastructure on Advanced Genomics Technologies\, Grant Agreement No 101187908) and KU Leuven as part of the Flemish inter-university course for the Support of Young Researchers (Omkadering van Jonge Onderzoekers)\, this course provides an advanced overview of long-read sequencing technologies and their application in medical genomics. SUMMARY:Kursus “Praktiline arheobotaanika”
DESCRIPTION:Aine eesmärk on anda ülevaade peamistest taimede määramispõhimõtetest ning tutvustada arheobotaanika uurimisvaldkonda ning selle meetodeid. \nLühikursus koosneb kahest osast – sissejuhatusest botaanikasse ja arheoloogiliste taimejäänuste määramisest. Esimesel nädalal tutvutakse taimede määramistunnustega ja püütakse määrata taimi nii looduses kui herbaarlehtedel. Teises osas tutvutakse arheobotaanika alustega\, võetakse ise pinnaseproov\, eraldatakse arheobotaaniline materjal (seemned) ja määratakse need mikroskoobi all ja määrajate abiga. \n

SUMMARY:XXIII International Association for the History of Religions World Congress
DESCRIPTION:This event marks the first IAHR World Congress in ten years\, due to the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 World Congress in Otago\, New Zealand\, amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The local host in Kraków—the Jagiellonian University\, and the Polish Society for the Study of Religions—and the IAHR are delighted to welcome you in Poland for a week of scientific discussions\, intellectual exchanges\, and friendly interactions among scholars from around the world. As stated in the IAHR Constitution\, the IAHR is not a forum for confessional\, apologetical\, or other similar concerns. True to the spirit of the IAHR and its guidelines\, the organizers are committed to fostering a vibrant atmosphere\, and to creating opportunities for the advancement of the academic study of religion(s). \n\n\nThe organization of the World Congress in 2025 invites us to celebrate several milestones in the history of our discipline. This year marks: \n\n\n\nthe 125th anniversary of the first World Congress of religious studies held in Paris in 1900;\nthe 74th anniversary of the founding of the IAHR at a congress in Amsterdam;\nthe 25th anniversary of the founding of the European Association for the Study of Religions in Kraków in 2000.\n\n\n\nAgainst this backdrop\, the World Congress will allow us to reflect on the past and the future of our discipline. \n\n\nThe topic of the World Congress is: \n\n\nOut of Europe: Studying Religion(s) in Interconnected Worlds\n\n\nBy choosing this topic\, the Congress aims to explore the creative tensions intrinsic in the historical origins and global scope of the study of religion(s). You can read more about the topic of the World Congress here in Call for Panels & Papers. \n\n\nThe topic of the World Congress and its location are closely connected to one another. The proposal to hold the next World Congress of Religious Studies in Kraków with the theme “Out of Europe” highlights a particular historical moment in the development of the discipline. Looking back at the development and achievements of the historical and scientific study of religion initiated in Western Europe\, we will explore its global impact and potential contribution to the discussions in the future. \n\n\nReligions in Central and Eastern Europe developed in a different way than in Western Europe. Kraków as the royal capital of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth has roots in the more profound history of “Younger Europe” christianized around 1000 CE. Volodymyr\, the ruler of the Kyiv Rus\, chose the Greek Orthodox Church after scrutinizing other “faiths”: Judaism\, Islam\, and the Roman Church. Since the Late Medieval period\, the history of Central and Eastern Europe has been continuously reconfigured by the circulation of people and ideas. This led to deep interconnections between Christianity\, Judaism\, and Islam (Tatar\, Ottoman Empire) and the emergence of a multi-religious patchwork of cultures. This part of Europe was also a victim of imperial policies and suffered the effects of peasant enslavement . In the 20th century\, the Shoah and totalitarian regimes disrupted earlier inclusive traditions in the Bloodlands\, i.e.\, Poland\, Belarus\, Ukraine and the Baltic states. \n\n\nWithin the religious system currently in place\, we invite the global academic community to explore religions in interconnected worlds. We sincerely hope that this rich background will provide inspiration to both retrace the main trajectories of our discipline’s development and to explore new directions.

DESCRIPTION:Congressus Internationalis Fenno-Ugristarum (CIFU) on suurim rahvusvaheline soome-ugri (Uurali) keelte\, kultuuride\, kirjanduse\, folkloori\, kunsti\, muusika\, rahvausundi\, ajaloo\, geneetika ja arheoloogia uurimisele pühendatud teadusüritus. Alates 1960. aastast on kongressi korraldatud iga viie aasta tagant. 14. rahvusvaheline fennougristika kongress (CIFU XIV) toimub 18.–23. augustil 2025 Tartus. Kongressi peakorraldaja on Tartu Ülikooli eesti ja üldkeeleteaduse instituut. \nOluline informatsioon: \n\nAutorite registreerumise tähtaeg oli 30. juuni.\nVeebiregistreerumine Zoomis osalemiseks on veel avatud 11. augustini.\nVaadake ka infot soodushinnaga majutuse kohta (inglise keeles).

SUMMARY:HUNTS - Humanitaarainete õpilaskonverents
DESCRIPTION:HUNTS on mõeldud õpilastele üle Eesti\, kes õpivad 9.–12. klassis. Konverentsi eesmärk on aidata teadvustada õpilaskonverentsi kaudu humanitaarainete vajalikkust Eesti riigile ja ühiskonnale\, parandada humanitaarteaduste mainet ühiskonnas ning pöörata õpilaste tähelepanu humanitaarteadustele võimaliku edasise atraktiivse karjäärisuunana. HUNTS toob kokku õpilased ja teadlased tutvustama oma värskeid mõtteid ja vaateid ning arutlema uute ja innovaatiliste meetodite üle\, valmistades sel moel ette uut põlvkonda humanitaarteadlasi ja suurendades humanitaarteaduste kõlapinda. Konverents võimaldab muuhulgas saada õpilasesinejatel vahetut tagasisidet ja innustust tegevteadlastelt. \nKonverentsi korraldavad Eesti Kirjandusmuuseum\, Eesti Rahva Muuseum ja Hugo Treffneri Gümnaasium.
