The Archaeochemistry research group (Archemy<\/a>) consists of experts in archaeology, human and animal osteology, stable isotope analysis, organic residue analysis, micro- and macro-remains of plants (archaeobotany), and radiocarbon dating, bridging the humanities and natural sciences. We have a direct connection with the Institute of Chemistry at the University of Tartu, which has long-standing experience in the chemical analysis of cultural heritage objects, as well as with the Institute of History and Archaeology, which brings together theoretical knowledge of past studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The archaeochemistry group focuses on reconstructing the diets, health, migration patterns, and origins of past populations. The available methods also enable the study of a much broader range of topics, including the environment, the social structure of society, and culture in general.<\/p>\n\n\n
