Introduction

Objective of present study object is to support entrepreneurship modules developed in Estonian University of Life Sciences and in other Estonian universities as part of the entrepreneurship education program. The material provides introduction to the topics of entrepreneurship, innovation, academic entrepreneurship and research commercialization. It is intended as an introductory material for the course on entrepreneurship for doctoral students and to be combined with reading materials on technology entrepreneurship and research papers on each topic + discussion questions on each subtopic for the seminars.

The development of this material was supported by the program “Edu ja Tegu – Systematic Development of Entrepreneurship Education on All Levels of Education in Estonia” implemented by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and financed by European Social Fund.

Target group: doctoral students of Estonian University of Life Sciences taking the courses DK.0021 Entrepreneurship and Management and DK.022 Practice in entrepreneurship or management, graduate students taking MS.0808 Innovation and entrepreneurship for rural development.

Learning outcomes.

After completing the learning object, the student will be able to:

– Define main entrepreneurship concepts and role of innovation in entrepreneurship

– Explain the main historical developments of the concept

– Define innovation and different types of innovation

– Understand the basics of academic entrepreneurship

– Explain the options for research commercialization
