For University of Tartu PhD students

Involvement of consultants from abroad and from private/public sector
PhD students who have successfully completed at least one attestation have the opportunity to apply for funding a consultant from abroad or from Estonia. Consultant may come from other universities, private or public sector, but not from the PhD student’s home university. It is possible to involve consultants for 1-4 months within a study semester. Principal supervisor will help in finding the appropriate person with necessary qualification and knowledge. In case of agreement PhD student has to submit the application to katrin.tamm@ut.ee.

International mobility grants
Doctoral school's support can be used for participating in a professional (web) conference, seminar or course, or carry out other educational or research-related activities (working in libraries, using laboratories, developing study materials, working with a supervisor, participating in field work, consultations or other similar tasks). Activities abroad must be closely related to the grantee´s doctoral studies. Application deadlines: 10.01; 30.03; 30.04; 20.06; 30.08; 30.10.

Who can apply?
Only active members of the Doctoral School in Economics and Innovation.
NB! Applicants have to guarantee being not on academic leave during the mobility period.
NB! External status is not eligible.

Purpose of mobility
Grant could be used for participating in a professional conference, seminar or course, or carry out other educational or research-related activities (working in libraries, using laboratories, developing study materials, working with a supervisor, participating in field work, consultations or other similar tasks). Acitivities abroad must be closely related to the grantee´s doctoral studies. NB! Please explain carefully in the action plan, how the planned mobility will help you in your doctoral studies. Regarding the conference mobility, priority is given to participation which includes a paper presentation.

How to apply?
•    Fill the application form + Appendix 1 (action plan and expected results of the mobility);
•    Add recommendation letter signed by your supervisor;
•    Add letter of confirmation (issued by hosting university or research institution or by organizer of conference, doctoral course, workshop etc);
•    Add programme of the event (if available). 
•    Send all documents to katrin.tamm@ut.ee 

Application rules
1. The applicant must be an active member of the doctoral school during the mobility.
2. Documents to be presented: application form + action plan, recommendation letter from supervisor + confirmation letter from the hosting institution or schedule of an event.
3. Costs to be covered: travelling, accommodation, participation fee. 
4. It is possible to get max two grants per study year. NB! In case of e-mobility we do not restrict the number of grants per PhD student per study year.
5. An activity report has to be presented after the mobility.

Selection
Selection is made by the committee of the Doctoral School in Economics and Economics within two weeks after your application has reached the coordinator.

Guide for using mobility grants


BEFORE THE MOBILITY 

1. The applicant covers all costs related with the mobility (plane tickets, accommodation, participation fee)

  •  Costs will be reimbursed after the mobility based on original cost documents.

2. The participation fee can be directly paid by the University of Tartu:

  • The applicant asks the organizer of the conference / workshop / course for a correctly drawn up invoice (recipient University of Tartu, Ülikooli 18, 50090 Tartu, Estonia) including the title and dates of the event and the name of the participant.
  • The applicant forwards the received invoice to katrin.tamm@ut.ee

NB! If the applicant is an employee of the University of Tartu (having an employment contract, an authorisation agreement or a contract for services), the coordinator will compile a secondment order for him/her.

  • If the daily allowance will be paid from another source, please inform the coordinator about the respective financial account code and the name of financially authorised person. 

DURING THE MOBILITY

1. Follow the Doctoral School requirements of notification

  • European Regional Development Fund’s logo should be used in case of any presentations during the mobility. Please insert the logo on your powerpoint or poster presentation. 
  • Reference to the University of Tartu ASTRA project PER ASPERA is required.

2.  Keep all travel related bills, receipts, boarding passes, tickets.

AFTER THE MOBILITY

1. Submit the Activity Report and all financial documents (boarding passes, tickets, receipts, invoices) to the coordinator within 5 working days after the mobility.
2. The coordinator draws up a business expense report (for a non-employee) or a secondment report (for a UT employee) based on the documents submitted. Costs will be reimbursed.

Doctoral school supports PhD students' participation in professional conferences which take place in Estonia. Applications can be submitted at any time. Application for conference fee cover.
