Writing Retreat will create space and time for PhD students to focus on your own academic writing and thus make significant progress on your research goals.  Five days with over 36 hours of writing, short workshops, activities to help clear your mind, as well as the opportunity to discuss with others and with a facilitating consultant. The format is inclusive and collective. It will be facilitated and supported, with the focus being on writing together to increase motivation and writing productivity.

The instructors are Djuddah A.J. Leijen (PhD, Lecturer at The College of Foreign Languages and Cultures) and Anni Jürine (PhD, Research Fellow at the Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics). They have experience teaching PhD level academic writing across and within disciplines. They have formerly developed instructed several writing retreats for The Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy, and Semiotics, Graduate School of Culture Studies and Arts, Doctoral School of Behavioural, Social and Health Sciences.

The planned writing has to be related with your PhD dissertation. To participate in the retreat, please send a short workplan on the writing you will be working on and submit your application by January 21, 2019. Registration closed! 

NB! Members of Doctoral School in Economics and Innovation are welcome to participate. The number of participants is limited. If the number of interested people exceeds available places, the selection will be done based on the quality of workplans and participation in earlier retreats. 

All costs (transport to the venue, accommodation and meals) will be covered by the doctoral school for those who are actively involved in any of the above mentioned study programmes.
