Doctoral School in Economics and Innovation 
June 26-28, 2019, Laulasmaa

Target group: PhD students and their supervisors from the fields of Economics, Political Science, Law, Governments and Politics, Public Administration and Management. NB! Applicants from University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn University, Estonian University of Life Sciences and Estonian Business School are welcome.

The aim of the PhD Summer School is to develop PhD students’ presentation skills as well as their qualification of doing research, and enhance both intra-, interdistsiplinary and international research co-operation.

Venue: Laulasmaa Spa Hotel, Puhkekodu tee 4, Laulasmaa, Lääne-Harju vald, Eesti

The three-day programme includes:  

  • Doctoral working paper sessions (Economics, Law and Political Science)
  • Doctoral poster session 
  • Guest lectures 
  • Workshop on stress management and well-being (parallel workshops for PhD students and supervisors)
  • Sporty team training for development of communication skills 
  • Creativity building tour to Arvo Pärt Centre

Submission of proposals

PhD students are expected to submit either:
1)     non-published paper related with their thesis;
or
2)     poster to introduce their research ideas or preliminary results at the summer school.

The deadline for submissions is May 10, 2019.

All papers and posters will be pre-reviewed. The notification of acceptance will be given by May 20, 2019. 

Deadline for registration: May 30, 2019. Registration is closed.

Participation for members of the Doctoral School in Economics and Innovation (active PhD students and their supervisors from study programmes) will be covered by the European Union Regional Development Fund. Costs to be covered: accommodation in twin rooms, materials, meals, bus transport from Tallinn/Tartu to summer school venue.

Instructions for authors

Guidelines for papers: According to international standards. Accepted papers will be presented and discussed at the summer school. Fulltexts (electronic versions) of accepted papers will be made available for summer school participants. Doctoral working papers in the area of Economics and Business Administration will compete for the best paper award given by the Estonian Economic Association.

Guidelines for postersSome practical tips. Accepted posters will be printed out at the cost of Doctoral School and authors will get the opportunity to make a presentation at the summer school. Best poster award will be given.
