Spatial aspects can be both material and immaterial, and influence our crafting. Such aspects are, for example:<br>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Certain crafts being identified with specific regions \u2013 or being more general, global<br>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Materialities of crafting: need of designated workshop and tools fixed in a place<br>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Mobility \u2013 possibilities of crafting while moving\/travelling, or bringing crafts to meetings\/gatherings<br>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Places or spaces are created by crafting<br>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Inspiration and\/or craft material from special places or landscapes<br>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Virtual spaces for crafting: online communities<br>\nAs preparation for the seminar, you will get some shorter texts to read and a couple of questions to work with. The questions will help you reflect on spatial aspects from your own experiences and\/or knowledge of crafts and crafting. <\/p><\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<p><\/p><div class=\"accordion mb-3\">\n        <div class=\"accordion-item accordion-item--white\">\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-69e80d004af62-heading\">\n            <button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#accordion-69e80d004af62-collapse\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"accordion-69e80d004af62-collapse\">Growing into Craft Culture<\/button>\n        <\/h2>\n        <div id=\"accordion-69e80d004af62-collapse\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-69e80d004af62-heading\">\n            <div class=\"accordion-body\"><strong>Hanna Kettunen and Niina V\u00e4\u00e4n\u00e4nen, University of Eastern Finland<\/strong>\n<p>In this seminar, we will discuss our cultural background as a living cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-assignment: Prepare a 5-10 min presentation of your craft identity. Describe your own craft heritage through your own making and where you grew. What kind of techniques and materials were used, and what kind of products were made? What kind of skills did you learn growing up? How did your regional environment affect your crafting? You can present pictures or actual products in the seminar to others. <\/p><\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<p><\/p><div class=\"accordion mb-3\">\n        <div class=\"accordion-item accordion-item--white\">\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-69e80d004af65-heading\">\n            <button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#accordion-69e80d004af65-collapse\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"accordion-69e80d004af65-collapse\">Nature as our Muse: Arts and Crafts and Gardening<\/button>\n        <\/h2>\n        <div id=\"accordion-69e80d004af65-collapse\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-69e80d004af65-heading\">\n            <div class=\"accordion-body\"><strong>Emma Gr\u00f6nlund and Dennis Zaloga, University of Gothenburg<\/strong>\n<p>In our seminar, we will discuss the role of nature as a source of inspiration during the arts and crafts movement and the ripples it has created throughout time. Exploring how the arts and craft movement\u2019s view on craft skill, sustainability, and art has developed and stayed relevant today. We look at examples from European gardens and craft design inspired by nature.<\/p><\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<p><\/p><div class=\"accordion mb-3\">\n        <div class=\"accordion-item accordion-item--white\">\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-69e80d004af69-heading\">\n            <button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#accordion-69e80d004af69-collapse\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"accordion-69e80d004af69-collapse\">The Culture of Making and Wearing Folk Costumes Today<\/button>\n        <\/h2>\n        <div id=\"accordion-69e80d004af69-collapse\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-69e80d004af69-heading\">\n            <div class=\"accordion-body\"><strong>Inna Raud and the students of University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy<\/strong>\n<p>Students from each country (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia) prepare a presentation (20 minutes per country) reflecting today\u2019s situation of folk costumes in their home country:<br>\n\u2013 What is considered a folk costume?<br>\n\u2013 Who makes folk costumes and according to what principles?<br>\n\u2013 Folk costume research and communication, related organizations.<br>\n\u2013 What are the success stories related to making and wearing folk costumes?<br>\n\u2013 What are the problems associated with making and wearing folk costumes?<\/p><\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<p><\/p><div class=\"accordion mb-3\">\n        <div class=\"accordion-item accordion-item--white\">\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-69e80d004af6b-heading\">\n            <button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#accordion-69e80d004af6b-collapse\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"accordion-69e80d004af6b-collapse\">Social and Sustainable Crafting<\/button>\n        <\/h2>\n        <div id=\"accordion-69e80d004af6b-collapse\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-69e80d004af6b-heading\">\n            <div class=\"accordion-body\"><strong>USN Rauland students<\/strong>\n<p>In this seminar, we use collage as a tool and a creative basis for idea development and discussions on social and sustainable crafting.
