The population of Estonia is about 1.3 million people, and the capital city Tallinn is located in North Estonia. The approximate duration of a one-way flight is 45 minutes. The flights to Helsinki ensure connecting flights to nearly a hundred destinations worldwide. The exact flight schedule can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finnair.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Finnair<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.finnair.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> website<\/a>. Tartu Airport is located 10 kilometers from the center of Tartu. Tartu city center and the airport are connected by bus and taxi connections. Photo: Sven Za\u010dek<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<hr>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">By train<\/h2>\n<div class=\"spacing-20\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<article>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tartu Railway Station is located 1.5 km from the city centre, there is a daily train service to Tartu from Tallinn, Valga, and Koidula. It is also possible to travel to Tartu from Riga and Vilnius when catching a connecting train in Valga (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vivi.lv\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vivi<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ltglink.lt\/en\/vilnius-tallinn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LTG Link<\/a>,\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/elron.ee\/en\/Tallinn-Tartu-Riga-Vilnius-train-connection\">Elron<\/a> websites for more information). You may purchase a ticket for the whole route to Tartu (with the connecting train in Valga) from Vilnius or Riga from the <a href=\"https:\/\/ltglink.lt\/en\">LTG Link website<\/a>. When you arrive from Vilnius to the Riga Railway Station you do not need to change, the same train will continue to Valga, Estonia. On arrival to the Valga Railway Station you will need to change to the Elron train which will be on the same platform. The LTG Link ticket will be also valid on the Elron train.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tickets within Estonia (e.g., Tallinn-Tartu) can be purchased from the website <a href=\"https:\/\/elron.ee\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/elron.ee\/en<\/a> or on the train from a <a href=\"https:\/\/elron.ee\/en\/piletiinfo\/piletimasin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ticket machine<\/a> or from a ticket controller, it is however cheaper to purchase the ticket online in advance. You can also take a bicycle to the train, but additional bicycle ticket must be purchased for it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Elron trains, there are two different price classes. In the first class, there are wider seats with adjustable backrests, there are also power sockets and tables available for working with laptop. With the ticket to the first class a certain seat number is booked for you. In the second class, you can choose a free seat (no certain seat is reserved with the ticket) and there are power sockets and small tables available at some seats. Note that the number of passengers in the second class is higher than usual on Friday and Sunday nights, thus it would be good to book your ticket in advance and get on the train earlier to secure a seat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the Tartu railway station, the city center can be reached by walking (about 1.4 km) or catching city buses <a href=\"https:\/\/web.peatus.ee\/linjat\/estonia:99ac18f3014c813da99ec92195e69748\/aikataulu\/estonia:99ac18f3014c813da99ec92195e69748::03?locale=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No 3<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/web.peatus.ee\/linjat\/estonia:54edb2234887f7b5564d2a1869203593\/aikataulu\/estonia:54edb2234887f7b5564d2a1869203593::02?locale=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No 25<\/a>, all timetables of the city buses can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/web.peatus.ee\/aikataulut\/urban-lines\/1?locale=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. There are around 30 buses traveling between Tallinn and Tartu per day, most of them also stop at the Tallinn Airport. If you plan to use a bus operated by LuxExpress, it is cheaper to buy a ticket from their <a href=\"https:\/\/luxexpress.eu\/en\/\">homepage<\/a> or via their smartphone app (on Tpilet website a service fee of 0.65 euro cents is added to the ticket price). Information about the international bus routes can be also found at <a href=\"https:\/\/luxexpress.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.luxexpress.eu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The price of the bus ticket depends on the time of the purchase as well as on the demand: when the trip is booked in advance, the possibility of getting a price discount is higher. The highest price applies to a ticket bought on board the bus from the driver or from the customer service representative on-site. Please note that when entering the bus, passengers with pre-purchased tickets are served first, and only then a ticket can be bought from the driver (if there are available seats).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you need to use a local transportation city bus in Tartu, the routes and timetables of city buses can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/web.peatus.ee\/aikataulut\/urban-lines\/1?locale=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.
