K\u00f5ige efektiivsemalt saab toimida rakk, mille pindala ja ruumala suhe on suur.\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n\tKui rakk suureneb, v\u00e4heneb selle pindala ja ruumala suhe.\u00a0Kui rakk kasvab liiga suureks, ei ole rakumembraanil piisavalt pinda, et toetada\u00a0 kiiret ainete transporti raku sees.\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n\tLisaks raku mahule on raku suurus oluline ka elluj\u00e4\u00e4mise seisukohast. Nagu eespool mainitud, on enamik rakke\u00a0ligikaudu sf\u00e4\u00e4rilise kujuga.
