This page introduces a series of auxiliary materials designed to concisely present the diverse possibilities of bioarchaeological methods. From bones and teeth to dental calculus, pottery, and organic residues, each material holds unique insights into ancient diets, health, environments, and behaviors. These resources aim to support researchers, students, and enthusiasts in understanding how scientific approaches can breathe new life into archaeological discoveries.

These “Methods in a Nutshell” resources were developed within the framework of the PaleoMIX project, which has received funding from the European Commission’s Horizon program under agreement number 101079396, with additional support from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) grant number 10063975.

Animal Remains

Human Remains

Plant Remains

Ceramics

Dental Calculus

Zooarchaeology by MASS
SPECTROMETRY

Dating:
Radiocarbon Method

Loomaluud

Inimsäilmed

Taimejäänused

Keraamika

Hambakivi

Zooarheoloogia MASSI
SPEKTROMEETRIA abil

Dateerimine:
Radioaktiivse süsiniku
meetod

Bioarchaeology offers a powerful window into the lives of past populations by analyzing the biological and cultural traces they left behind.
